dead cpu's

E4300 oc'ed to 2.88GHz just died after 7 months of service. Buying a Q6600 to replace it.

(i know it's not a conroe but it just died a few hours prior to your post so i though i'll share)

you sure its the cpu?

whoa that sucks Garn, thanks for sharing, could i ask you what voltages you were running and the max temperatures for your old e4300?

I'd check the CPU with another rig. These chips shouldn't fail in 7 months unless you're pumping +1.5V and run the chip 24/7 north of 75C.
