DEAD CPU Question

It may still generate heat, even if it broken. Dead means won;t post, but could still have a problem.
 
well i have an athlon 2800 barton and all of a sudden my comp stops booting but sitll generates heat. makes me wonder whats messed up, the cpu or motherboard
 
ah... !! If you haven;t messed with the HSF, and the fan is still spinning, then dead mobo is my guess.. And that may be good news, you can get a mobo for less than a cpu ! Find a friends mobo, and see if they will let you try your cpu in it.
 
I have a computer with a barton 2800 and all of a sudden it wont post, no bios or anything just the fans spinning, although the cpu generates heat is it possible for it to be damaged?
