DEAD: Corsair TX750W...... $63.61 + shipping AR

looks good, are the cables long enough in big full tower cases?

Also how future proof is buying powerful PS like this one or beyond? hate to buy it and end up finding out its not enough for stuff like a year from now

Cables should be decently long. As for future-proof, that doesn't exist because at some point in the future it will no longer be useful.

If you think that power consumption will keep going up, then just get a 1200W PSU and be done with it. You won't be exceeding that because you'd then be exceeding the capability of most house circuits.

No way will a 750W PSU ever not be enough, unless you are running a Skulltrail setup or 3-way SLI.

Certainly power consumption has gone up but recently there's been a shift to performance-per-watt rather than pure performance. Also, power consumption cannot increase much more-CPU's are limited to around ~130-140W TDP max, and no one can cool anything more than a 250W GPU on air.

Heck for the average non gamer, a decent 350W PSU is overkill. Most CPU's sold today are 65W TDP and the majority of the market runs integrated graphics, which consumes little power.

don't make the mistake of thinking TDP = power consumed. TDP is Thermal Dissipation Power, which is merely the amount of heat thrown off due to inefficiency. The CPU actually uses more.

The better value is the power draw. Either way, I don't believe you'll see anything even approaching 500W real power, except for those inefficient SLI systems.

The thing I really like about using oversized psu's is they stay very quiet all of the time and deliver very stable power. This psu at 400w continuous is barely breaking a sweat and is 85% efficient (test 3 JG).

A typical 400-500w psu is going to be running hard at 400w continous and the fan will ramp up pretty good. I use a Corsair 620 and Antec 850 in both of my single VC systems and they stay nice and quiet and max load.

Provantage has removed their rebate offer.

It's still available at the link in the OP. The rebate form states invoice has to be dated by today.

Now, why are people getting all kinds of pricing at both Newegg and Provantage? Is it a browser cache issue?

Yeah, even though it was good through today, they removed it

I didn't buy one or save the pdf. Can't dig it up on Provantage site either. Guess it was too good a deal.

EDIT: Damn, good catch Zap. I didn't try my own link 😛

FYI, Newegg has it for just under $70 w/ only a $ 15.00 rebate if that interests anyone.

Dead? it shows $129.99 - $10 rebate for me.

Wow. WTH? I know it was that price this morning. In fact I just checked all the other Corsair PSU's just to see if I could have chosen another, but I went to pricegrabber or one of those places this morning and had a good link. Newegg is real funny like that though. I swear they do that kind of stuff just to compete or 'make money' and then raise it back up when the see how popular an item is becoming......
