@Termie

Thnx for reply
O.K. I'll bite for 2 kits.
Thnx for heads up also

Speaking of rebates, I just this minute got my $30 XFX rebate card in mail. Took 13 days from mailing to acceptance, 6 more days to get rebate - very nice. Actually, I almost threw it away - nothing on letter, and saw "congratulations" thru envelope.

Edit: Just called Corsair - XMS is value ram, vengeance is better, dominator is best. He said if not overclocking ram, XMS is fine, vengeance has better drams.

That's just what they say so you'll buy the dominator. I have 2 sets of 3X2gb corsair dominators currently in two different x-58 rigs and while they have been 100% rock solid they were not great overclockers.

Also thanks OP. Deal was too good to pass up. I picked up a set. 🙂 I plan on a 2500k rig in the future and in the meantime my x-58 rig went from triple channel 6 gb to triple channel 12gb. I'll have a spare 4gb lying around.

You can send that spare 4gb my way, I'll even pay for shipping! 😛

I got in on this. Since I am starting a new 2500k build, I did need DDR3 memory. I dont need 16gb, so I may sell the other 8gb.

Anyways, I think this memory may actually be 1.65v @ 1600. Bad marketing I think. I am not sure this is 1.5v @ 1600. 🙁

Someone may want to look into what this memory actually runs at 1600.

O.K. I just went to Corsair site
CML lowprofile blue 1600C9 vengeance = 1.5V
There are no CMX 16GB kits listed now for XMS, but both the C8 and C9 1600 8GB kits are def 1.65V

I understand the confusion, but this is almost definitely a 1.5v kit. The 1.65v kits were originally produced long ago, for AMD platforms. This 4x4GB kit is newly packaged, since 16GB kits didn't exist when the 1.65v memory was first introduced. Furthermore, Newegg (and other retailers like CompUSA) clearly list this as 1.5v.

Finally, if you look at Corsair's offerings of XMS3 8GB kits, they have both 1.5v and 1.65v kits. The 1.65v kits are the older kits:

I would be very, very surprised if Corsair was packaging the older stuff into a 16GB kit...and mislabeling it.

One last clue - if you look at user reviews, the older 1.65v kit came out over a year ago, while both the 8GB 1.5v kit and the Shellshocker kit came out in September of this year, i.e., it's 2 months old. Again, extremely unlikely this is 1.65v memory.

If you're worried don't cut out the UPC until you've tested the ram at 1600mhz at 1.5v. If it doesn't work as advertised call newegg and request a refund. For me if I can get it close to 1600mhz and get the rebate back I won't complain.

Actually, I dont have to worry, I bought the low profile vengeance kits - only 1.5V. Kinda sucks that Corsair cant keep their website updated.

Edit: I should have thanked ActiveX for the Low Profile $79 link

If it wasn't for the fact that I just bought the 8gb flavor of this I'd consider it...

And since I'm in NJ the $6 tax makes it a little less hot for me

Just fyi, it is a little late now, but check your emails. Newegg just today or last night emailed out a bunch of 10% or $10 off any order coupons. 😛 Only very select people got them, so dont be surprised if you didnt.

A little call to newegg and you can probably get it applied to the order. This brought my price down to $84.60 after tax, before rebate.

fwiw, got it over the weekend and they run at advertised speed and voltage.. also was scared by the lack of product on Corsair's page.. but all good.

Really? I'm located in Michigan, and mine shipped from NJ, went to MD, then KY, then IL. Can't quite figure it out 😵
