*DEAD* Core 2 Duo E8500 Processor 3.16ghz (retail box) - $155 shipped at Frys

I am building a new system and was planning on purchasing an e8400. for this price the 8500 is 20 bucks cheaper.

Does the 8500 overclock as well as the 8400? reading up it seems people preferred the 8500 but price made it not worth. Now with this price it seems like a good deal?
 
personally i'd not like the idea of a .5 multi but at DDR2 800, that's 3.8!!

does it overclock as well? its the same gamble we all take, good luck with that
 
Just an FYI - I picked up an e8500 as part of a Fry's combo in Austin, TX last week and it was a retail E0. Now running @4.00 on an Abit P35-E at default voltage at decent temps.
 
Don't worry too much about the stepping, pretty much they will all do 4.0+ as long as you have the board to push them a little.

 
That's hot. I got the E8400 for the same price a month ago from microcenter. Well, ok, not exactly. I had to drive 80 miles round trip and pay CA tax....
