items plugged in: PS, CPU, RAM (1x512 and 1x256), Video

Flip the I/O switch on the PS, and a little green light on the mobo lights up. Hit the power button and both the PS fan and CPU fan spin up... and nothing else happens. No post beep. No "missing hardware" beeps.

If I pull the video, same exact sequence of events. The video card works in another box. I don't have any more DDR to switch out. I haven't tried pulling the ram, but I was under the impression that one dead stick wouldn't completely kill the post.

Ideas?

Does the mobo have built-in video?

Can you try a different video card (maybe PCI instead of AGP)? I know you verified the video-card in a different system, but maybe there's an incompatibility with this particular mobo? (AGP vs. AGP PRO maybe)

Another thing to try is resetting your mobo's BIOS to default settings. I know this will wipe out any custom timings, but maybe your slot is clocked too high? Usually this involves pulling a jumper on the motherboard and powering it on / off then replacing the jumper - consult your manual for your specific model.

Once you get video, it gets easier...
 
The videocard is a GF4Ti4600 that's been running in this box for two years or so. I don't have any other compatible video cards. The mobo doesn't have built in video, no.
 
OK. Well you have PS, CPU, RAM, videocard, and two systems.

You've already verified that the videocard is good.

Can you verify the other components in the other system? Test each part separately. If everything checks out, then the culprit is the motherboard.

If you can't test the parts yourself, find a friend or shop to hook it up for you?
 
No shop, but I might be able to test the RAM over at Bockchow's house. One system is a P3 but the system in question is a P4. Other than video (PS??), no interchangable parts. 🙁
 
Have you tried with a single RAM? and then with the other RAM?
Just the mainboard, processor, and a RAM. Connect the PC-speaker.
As I remember, processor and mainboard (no RAM) would beep when both the processor and mainboard are OK. This was mainboard dependant
