"maybe I will use JBL speaker then sell monitor to my coworker"

you'll have to find a 12v wallwart to power the speakers as they are powered by the monitor

The closest compusa with these in stock is 3 hrs and a tank of gas away (to get there and back is 6 hrs). Staples wont do price match with any "instant savings" WTF? Office depot says the compusa store is too far away and wont price match. Sure would like to get in on this deal..... Any Ideas? Guess I will just have to keep checking and hoping for some to show up at the local Compusa.

ALRIGHT! Found one at a Staples and PM'ed with $30 off. Very cool, and I was shocked that no one from the store had heard about the deal at all, even after visiting the store twice.

When he rung up the monitor it shoed up as 199.95 without the pricematch!! WTF? I was like - ok, I dont have a problem with that...

On the way home, I looked at the box, and its an MV740!! :( Any difference between the two? I found the MV on compaq's site, but dont see the FS anywhere other than refurbished - as far as I can tell they're identical....1280 = 60hz, 1024 = 85hz

Need to know soon - like TONIGHT, so I can take it back tomorrow and still get the rebate info all cirrect.

Thanks again - superb deal. Note that the rebate includes the FS and MV series'.

i have both the mv and the fs, about the same but the fs has a flatter screen, both qualify for the rebate.......btw they still have the fs740 at my local officedpot, about 4 of the for $379......try to pm with compusa, manager made up some story about having to buy the complete computer system in order to get the $200 instant rebate, then he mentioned it must be a clearance item, so they won't do the pm, didn't feel like arguing, so went to another officedepot, got a $200 pm + allowed to use $30 off coupon, so basically got the monitor for just the tax on $179 ($14)

I got one from staples PM to the $155, so only $5 + tax after reabte.

My wife got another one from other staples, the manager PM to $42, so after reabte, got $100.

For people that have this monitor when you maximize a window do your colors get darker?

i.e. when i maximize internet explorer the white turns gray. anyone else have this problem?

Has anyone gotten any kind of notice back from Compaq yet?

I sent mine out almost exactly 30 days after my Apr 26 purchase, so I'm just checking up...I'm going to hate paying nearly $200 for a 17"...

No, but you can check your status here.

My status is "We received your mailed submission and processed it on May 9, 2002." There is a number to call on the rebate inquiry webpage but I haven't called it yet.

no, still showing as "processed on May 10".

But there is another option: Your check, premium item, or non-compliance card has not yet been sent. Please allow an additional two to four weeks for final processing.
Does it mean if i call, i will get this option? an additonal two to four weeks waiting?

I got my rebate today making this a TRUE $50 monitor WOOO HOOO!!! (don't use it much just for watching TV really (have a tuner card and a Radeon 8500 which supports dual monitor setups)

I called a couple weeks ago and they were like it will mail in 10-14 days and low and behold I got my rebate a couple weeks later. It hink this is one of those deals where a call speeds things up, just let them know that they have had there 10 weeks and now you want your money ;) it was really no hastle at all for a $150 rebate I somewhat expected things to go wrong.

After waiting a little over 2 months I finnally got the rebates the other day. Kept calling and bugging them and each time they said you'll get it next week. They said there backed up and all rebates are taking a week or 2 longer. Anyways now i'm $450 richer.

This deal is alive again as I just got one for $72.58 after rebate. Circuit City is still clearing these out for $249.99. A lot of staples still have these for $349.99. So I pricematched for 110% difference and used 30 off 150 coupon (no 40 off 200 printable available:().

So

349.99
- 110.00 (110% PM)
- 30.00 (30 off 150)
-----------------------------
209.99
+ 12.59 6% tax
-----------------------------
222.58
- 150.00 MIR
-----------------------------
72.58 total

After waiting long enough, I finally got my rebate back today! My hopes of ever receiving this rebate had been dwindling, but luckily it came. Now I've got $150 to spend on more deals!
