Yes. Some can be perfect copies with menus, some can be perfect copies of the movie itself, all can be of a lesser quality with menu's and or just the movie.

Mine did too.. I called OfficeMax and gave them my order number and they gave me a tracking number and blamed the dissappearance on a computer bug..

It doesn't matter whether it comes from out of state or not. It matters if their is a B&M store in your state. And your state has a sales tax.

No, it looks like you used a $50 off $250 coupon. :) Doesn't the code cbo mean it is backordered?

Hmm, I can't find it there. Anyone know anything about this?

Don't know what happened with the blank message...

I just snagged this drive, anyone know what the best media is for it? I read elsewhere that the drive may be picky.

As for the lite-on, that $150 price is the cost to the distributors from what I understand, so you are looking at $200 when they do come out. And that is just a rumor.

Edit:

That info is incorrect the $140-$150 range for a DVD+ only (OEM) drive and that will be what companies will pay LiteOn for the drive not what companies will be salling the drive for. There is no mention of what the duel (DVD+ & DVD-) will cost.

As always with Cendyne rebates, your purchase decision should be without the rebate. From my experience, Cendyne should be purchased only through Staples if you want the rebate.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Mysticman1: I agree I screwed up on the two format price as it was not listed. However, the $140-$150 for the DVD+R/RW did not indicate OEM. The pricing above the paragraph was for OEM units which I believe would be sold to manufacturers. Since I do not take Digitimes newsletter I may not be as informed as you. The webpage was listed so everyone could read for himself or herself. (Would not want to be sexist.)

I bought the FAR Cendyne DVD-ROM drive (not a burner, just a reader) from OfficeMax during the Nov 29th, 2002 Black Friday sale . It consisted of 2 MIRs. They showed up on-line at RebatesHQ.com in a timely fashion; however, I waited a good 3 months until I received the actual checks. Thus, Cendyne rebates eventually do arrive (for some of us)!

That's my 2¢ worth! ;)

My receipt says both are PIP. I assume the CD's are coming out of Denver, I wish the DVD-R was still on the site so I could verify. Says both are coming tomorrow, though... I'm happy about that ^_^

I really hope the CD-R's come, otherwise they will be outside the rebate limit. Then I'll yel at them till they credit me. And to whoever got the $50 MIR now, you got SO lucky. Ideal Scenario: They ran OOS of the 2x's just before shipping, shipped me [and a couple other people, of course ;)] the 4x, then ran totally OOS. The people who waited a bit got the $50 credit because they got backordered, but will most likely get the 2x's once they restock. Worst case: They ran OOS on the 2x, didn't ship 4x's, and shipped VERBATIM +R'S as 'substitutes'... then anyone backordered has regular 2x's. Hope I get the long end of the stick....

Anyone know a place for good, cheap, works-on-a-lot DVD-R's? [And don't BS me I know they're out there ;)]

im the one who thinks i got the $50 mir taken off already. i asked "Darren" the csr what the model # was and he said the "209" so i know im not only getting the -r/w burner but also the 4x. win/win/win for me.

i already have a 1x dvr-a03 that came with my sony vaio and i use the princo from www.rima.com. so far so good with no coasters. theyre .69 a piece when you buy in the 100 pack. i just ordered another 100 with 100 cases to go with em.

this drive might be an early Christmas present for my brother but upgrading to 4x sounds tempting for me.

-davisa

i also want to say "thanks" to the original poster for the deal on this.

For those of you who got in on this....

How do you like the drive? Have you used it to make a copy of a DVD movie yet? Does it make copies as good as the originals?
