I went to purchase the dvd-rw drive last night online at Staples and it was in-stock. But after looking about for some media I got a re-log in page and the drive was then out of stock! :frown: Anyhow I printed out my shopping cart showing the drive in it along with the $50 off coupon being applied. I called my B&M local store and they said they had it in stock and would honor the dollars off coupon just to bring it in. Maybe I'm blind but is there an actual printable $50 off $200 coupon floating about somewhere (I only have the online code)? Just need to know a printable critter like this does actually exist.

If I'm unsuccesful looking for a printable version I'm just going to take in my shopping cart printout and hope they honor that. Tell you how it goes, thanks everyone.

I ordered one of these drives on Monday, like I was told to be Staples after they had cancelled my first order the week prior b/c OOS. So the Lady told me that I had two coupons on the my prior order $20off and $50off. She could understand how my account allowed my to have both, after checking w/ someone she told me that it would be ok. So....Grand total for my drive after tax in $193.89 -$50 rebate=$143.89 I didn't have to purchase anything else either, thanks again anadtech, for a HOT DEAL :)

I too get the good 'old OOS at Staples.. I tried calling in the order and the girl told me she couldn't place the order since it was OOS throughout... Also, the best I can find for the online coupon is $40.. If someone would like to PM and chat, please do! ;)

This looks like a great deal.. Just gotta get in before the rebate is dead!

I picked one up at the local Staples store this weekend using a $30 coupon but if this one arrives it's going back to the store as a return. The store wouldn't accept my $50 coupon code from the online order :disgust:. Also, ordered 25 of the Ritek 4x DVD-R's from Hypermicro.com on Sunday for $48 plus $8.22 shipping (Fedex 2 day delivery). Hypermicro shipped them the next day (Monday) and they should arrive tomorrow (Wednesday) :D. My retail copy of Nero (version 5.5.5.1) doesn't recognize the burner, should I install the Nero Express that comes with the drive?
goto ahead.de and get the latest..it will just upgrade your current product and should recognize your Plextor as well
Will Nero Express wipe out my full retail copy of Nero? I also have a Plextor CD burner installed, will Nero Express work with it or is it just limited to the Pioneer DVD-R? Any help is appreciated.

Bah! I went in to Staples B&M and they would not honor the internet coupon ($50 off $200 purchase) without a printed coupon that had a 16-digit code. Just when I thought I would get a deal and then no. Guess I will keep looking for a printable $50 off $200 purchase email coupon, or does it not even exist? :Q

anyone know where we can get cheap good 4x media?

Hypermicro has the cheapest Ritek 4x I've found.
$19.80 for 10
$48.00 for 25
$93.00 for 50
$180.00 for 100

$19.80 for 10, and add $6.14 for S&H = $25.94 (which comes out to around $2.59 a disc)
So this is the best deal I've seen these.

I just bought the drive in-store and was able to receive the $50 coupon code discount by showing the register person a web page print-out of my staples.com shopping cart which showed the applied $50 coupon code. Now I'm glad I printed this out yesterday because today I went back to the website and they were all OOS and therefore unable to accept coupon codes on the item (unless you call?). Perhaps I could of used the coupon code without the webpage print-out...but I just wanted to make sure they accepted it without hassle. :)

Very good. 25 is enough for me, considering these are 4.7 gigs each! :Q :)

They also have a Ritek 1x (not 4x) DVD-RW 10-pack for $29, + $8 S&H (for me)......I didn't see any Ritek DVD-RW media on hypermicro.com

I checked my order status online and it was canceled. Has this happened to anyone else who ordered yesterday?

Mine has been "processing" for two weeks. Twice Staples told me in e-mail that it was out of stock. Why they don't cancel the order completely and be done with it, I'll never know.

Too bad you guys dont have a Staples nearby :(

Does anybody know why the Pioneer, Verbatim and Memorex DVD-RW media are twice as expensive as Ritek's? Is Ritek media just as good as these others?

According to some websites Ritek CD-R medias are inferior to others.

Now if DVD-R media were the same, which it's probably parallel, it could explain why they are so cheap.

I see. Well so far I haven't seen anybody complain about their DVD-Rs. So I'll give their DVD-RWs a try, they can't be that bad :)

It let me buy one. Listed 2 day delivery, not 1 day.
We'll see!

Update - It's showing my scheduled delivery date as 2/3/2003.

Based on how long the delivery time is I would guess that the in stock number is nationally. The delivery time to L. A. is 4 days.
