They are both the same drive (NEC ND-1100A), NEC is the mane of the Manufacturer "ND-1100A" is the model #.Originally posted by: gard
Hi,
Well, there are 2 kinds of drives with the same SKU & UPC codes. The specifications on the back of the boxes say:
- Model: ND 1100A
- Speed: DVD+R: 4x, DVD+RW 2x, DVDRom 12x max, CDR 16x, CDRW 8x, CDRom 32x
- Applicable formats: DVD Rom & Video (Single & Dual Layer), DVD+R, DVD+RW
(Note: DVD-RAM not supported) ...
- Model: NEC 1100A
- Speed: DVD-R: 4x, DVD-RW 2x, DVDRom 12x max, CDR 16x, CDRW 8x, CDRom 32x
- Applicable formats: DVD Rom & Video (Single & Dual Layer), DVD+R, DVD+RW
(Note: DVD-RAM not supported) ...
The rest of the specifications are exactly the same. The only differences are in the model # and the references to DVD-R & DVD-RW in the NEC 1100A as against the DVD+R & DVD+RW for the ND 1100A. I got both. Which one should I keep? I know very little about DVD formats and am under the impression that DVD+RW is better. Any advice?
Thanks,
gard

Anyone know what model this Cendyne is? Is it a Pioneer A05 rebadged or something?
Officemax has both on sell but the 4x DVD(+)RW/R is the only one on-line, the 4x DVD(-)RW/R hasn't been on-line in 2 months so the only place that you will one is in a store.Originally posted by: BigEdMuustaffa

Officemax will remove a item off their web site if it's OOS and they are OOS on the CenDyne 4x DVD+RW/R, if they get more in stock they will put it back on the web site.

ok, so, bottom line, my question is: is this cendyne burner worth the $110 after rebates?
i was holding out for the sony +/- drive, but with that one still around $250-$300, it's hard to resist this one for just over $100. C'mon, someone talk me into/out-of it.![]()

Not to get off subject, but I heard Pinnacle Instant copy won't copy protected DVDs, yet people rant and rave about how it does (for personal back ups only of course, they already bought the original) How/why is this so?
