Well, there are 2 kinds of drives with the same SKU & UPC codes. The specifications on the back of the boxes say:
- Model: ND 1100A
- Speed: DVD+R: 4x, DVD+RW 2x, DVDRom 12x max, CDR 16x, CDRW 8x, CDRom 32x
- Applicable formats: DVD Rom & Video (Single & Dual Layer), DVD+R, DVD+RW
(Note: DVD-RAM not supported) ...

- Model: NEC 1100A
- Speed: DVD-R: 4x, DVD-RW 2x, DVDRom 12x max, CDR 16x, CDRW 8x, CDRom 32x
- Applicable formats: DVD Rom & Video (Single & Dual Layer), DVD+R, DVD+RW
(Note: DVD-RAM not supported) ...

The rest of the specifications are exactly the same. The only differences are in the model # and the references to DVD-R & DVD-RW in the NEC 1100A as against the DVD+R & DVD+RW for the ND 1100A. I got both. Which one should I keep? I know very little about DVD formats and am under the impression that DVD+RW is better. Any advice?

Thanks,
gard

The CenDyne 4x DVD+RW/R is back on the web site and the on line coupons are working again. The bad news is the web site is messed up, lots of page errors or slowwwwwwwww loading pages. It took me 40 mins to finish a order :clock: and no receipt, just a message says check your email, got the email comfirmation in about a hour. :clock:

I added 2 FAR items to add $30 to my total and used the $50 off $250 coupon. My final total after rebates and coupon will be $99.99

Officemax has both on sell but the 4x DVD(+)RW/R is the only one on-line, the 4x DVD(-)RW/R hasn't been on-line in 2 months so the only place that you will one is in a store.

BTY: Staples is rejecting PM's to Officemax saying it a "anniversary" sale and their rules say they don't PM "anniversary" sales, althrough a couple of lucky people have been successful in getting the PM done most people have been rejected.

Looks like the Cendyne 4x DVD+RW is not online now, was there yesterday but is took a long time for it to be added to your cart. OM is getting smart about these deals and making them in-store only unless there is another way around this.

Officemax will remove a item off their web site if it's OOS and they are OOS on the CenDyne 4x DVD+RW/R, if they get more in stock they will put it back on the web site.

So when to say that the item is available in-store only it's OOS? Thanks MysticMan1

I use Pinnacle's Instant Copy 7.0 but it takes a long time for it to do it's job. Made numerous back-ups of my DVDs and they look great.

ok, so, bottom line, my question is: is this cendyne burner worth the $110 after rebates?

i was holding out for the sony +/- drive, but with that one still around $250-$300, it's hard to resist this one for just over $100. C'mon, someone talk me into/out-of it. ;)

What a procrastinator. Get off your butt and buy it. I have this one and it performs perfectly. I also have a -r Pioneer and it works perfectly as well. If you have use for it, grab it. Then in 3 motnhs when something else comes along better than this, sell it for more than you paid for it on Egay. ;)

I have used DVD2One, InstantCopy, dvdshrink and good ole CCE. CCE is the best but takes a while, but I use InstantCopy mostly now. Performs almost on par with CCE, IMHO.

I am so lucky. I had accidently ordered the burner using the MSN wallet because I had done a fake check out to see how many MSN dollars were left and then stoped the order process. I then thought I checked out as normal way but I had to sign in with the MSN wallet, so I kind of thought it went through MSN. Anyway, I got an email saying my order may qualify for the new promotion and sure enough, on the site it says that the order qualifies even though it was made on the 27th. So, I get another $40 back. :)

Not to get off subject, but I heard Pinnacle Instant copy won't copy protected DVDs, yet people rant and rave about how it does (for personal back ups only of course, they already bought the original) How/why is this so?

I see Instant CD/DVD (which contains Instant Copy) also comes with a rebate and ends up being like $6 more than Instant Copy. What is the difference? What are you getting additonal with CD/DVD? Many have told me to just get Instant Copy and use NERO for the rest. Any thoughts?
