The link works but Officemax removed the CenDyne 4x DVD+RW/R from their web site to keep people from buyiing it before the sale starts.

MysticMan1 ,Thanks for all your time & work. We do appreciate it. Most of us that got in on these past DVD burner deals were very happy to be able to afford one; thanks to you. I am always amazed every time these deals get hotter. For those of us on the west coast, do we still stand a decent chance at online purchase when our clock strikes twelve Sunday A.M.? Or, will the east coast have sucked 'em up already? On past hard drive deals, I was lucky enough to have a Mgr. approve a B&M purchase & honor an online coupon, due to printout of backordered product. Do they give you a bunch of crap when you do a return & repurchase? Hope this deal goes smooth. Thanks again.:)

Here the info on using coupons in Officemax store :

#1: Some store managers will accept Staples or Office Depot "in store coupons" and some will take print outs of Officemax's on-line coupons page or, a print outs of a online order showing the discount coupon, but it is not a Officemax store policy to accept these types of coupons, it's total up to "each store manager" to accept or reject these types of coupons.
You can stop by or call your local Officemax store and ask the manager if he accepts any of these types of coupons.

#2:YES you can buy items before the start of the sale and return with your receipt during the week of the sale and ask for a price reduction under their 14 day low price guarantee. When you return with your receipt, Officemax will remove the amount you were changed on your card and rechange your card with the new lower price as if you were buying it for the first time and the rebate should also print out at the end of the transaction.

Also remenber you can order by phone using a Officemax phone order code (A-XXXX), that if you are lucky enough to get throught to a CSR.

The problem with that coupon is that the coupon link the doesn't work for most people, myself include, but if you can get the link to work use it.

Looks like this is B&M only now, if at all. The website won't display the item. Thanks for the info Mystic, maybe this will work next time.

FYI: I went and got the DVD-RW (item#20146496) drive tonight at my local B&M. It was in stock, but they didn't even have the display for the other one of the shelves... Don't know what that means around Atlanta, but this was at the Newnan store. I got mine, but they had to search for the sucker!!!

Good deal but be aware that Cendyne rebates are horrible, took me just over 6 months and 5 calls to get my $50 rebate on a previous DVD-R/RW deal.

First they sent me the postcard saying I didn't buy it in the specified time frame, I called them up and then they validated it and said it will take another 6 weeks. Then they said they mailed the check but I never got it, had to wait 45 days before they would issue a new one. Finally called them back after 45 days and I got the check this time, funny the check number was the same as the original they claimed to have sent out.

it sounds like the problem was with the rebate processing company not with Cendyne, although they have been taking longer to pay up on their rebates.

Does this mean there maybe a shift towards the (+) format soon? With Microsoft going that direction and now Cendyne could possibly other manufacturers jump on the DVD+ bandwagon?

Try to keep up with the news. Microsoft has announced that it will support ALL the DVD formats (-R, +R, and -RAM).

But in the article it also said that Microsoft has joined the DVD+RW alliance.

Earlier this year, the Redmond, Wash.-based company said it would play a more active role in developing the DVD+RW format as it joined the DVD+RW Alliance, the group promoting that format.

The CenDyne 4x DVD+RW/R is now on-line, but there's 2 problems, 1. it's already on backorder, at lease in my area code (L. A.), 2. the coupons are not working, the links works but as you checkout the $30 discount doesn't show up in the order. I have tried 4 different coupons and none show up during checkout. I don't know if Officemax is blocking all coupon use today but that's what it looks like to me.

Yup, i have the same problem. The coupons might not be working because the burner is currently on backorder.

Being on backorder has nothing to do with the coupons not working, beside they moved the drive off the web site again which means they are OOS. If they get more in stock and put the drive back on line before the sale ends Sat. I'll try the coupons again.

Why does your direct link work to the DVD burner, but when I try doing a search on Cendyne drives, manufacturer's model number or the item number, I pull up nothing?

I just ordered the drive online...Through various machinations (just lots of try this try that kinds of stuff...nothing I can actually suggest you try), I got it to work...with coupon ($40/200). It didn't work at first...I couldn't get the drive to add to my basket, or I could get it to add to my basket but the discount wouldn't appear. FINALLY got it all to work...somehow...

Here is your order information:

Nope...using IE. The time it worked, I went through the coupon link and then logged in immediately before I added anything to my basket...

The only way I could get to the drive was through the link provided in this thread.

Oh yeah, now I recall something: I changed the useBVcookie value in the link from "no" to "yes". Not sure that did the trick, but that's one of the things I screwed around with...

Hi,

Well, there are 2 kinds of drives with the same SKU & UPC codes. The specifications on the back of the boxes say:
- Model: ND 1100A
- Speed: DVD+R: 4x, DVD+RW 2x, DVDRom 12x max, CDR 16x, CDRW 8x, CDRom 32x
- Applicable formats: DVD Rom & Video (Single & Dual Layer), DVD+R, DVD+RW
(Note: DVD-RAM not supported) ...

- Model: NEC 1100A
- Speed: DVD-R: 4x, DVD-RW 2x, DVDRom 12x max, CDR 16x, CDRW 8x, CDRom 32x
- Applicable formats: DVD Rom & Video (Single & Dual Layer), DVD+R, DVD+RW
(Note: DVD-RAM not supported) ...

The rest of the specifications are exactly the same. The only differences are in the model # and the references to DVD-R & DVD-RW in the NEC 1100A as against the DVD+R & DVD+RW for the ND 1100A. I got both. Which one should I keep? I know very little about DVD formats and am under the impression that DVD+RW is better. Any advice?

Thanks,
gard
