I always scan and then print copies of the packing slip to send in with the rebate form and never had a problem. You can barely tell the different between the original and the copy.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, Mystic, but can you PM me the OfficeMax coupon code? I'd appreciate it, thanks. And thanks also for making me really, really poor. But at least I can burn CD's fast! :D

Go to your profile page and where it says "Allow Private Messages: NO Or YES" move the dot from No to YES :p and then PM me.

I called the Rebate Center for the Cendyne drive to confirm mailing address. The rep told me the ZIP on the rebate form was incorrect. The correct ZIP is:

78502

MysticMan, do you mind mentioning this in your top post so everyone would know? Thanks.

The rebate form say "limit to one rebate per item purchased", so I guess you can get one CD player for each CDRW you buy.

Man, I don't know what kind of magic you guys are working, but CSR #2 just shot me down, too. Any suggestions on how to sweet talk them?

Ok I went ahead and called the Office Max, ordered the drive for $79.99 and faxed in the Office Depot $20 of $75 coupon. They told me to fax it in and they will credit the $20, I hope this works. Anyone had experiences dealing with sending in a competitors coupon?

BTW, thanks to firehorse and MysticMan1 for the links!

Monkied said it best. :D MysticMan1 finally got me to buy a new burner, even though my TDK 12x10x32A has been a champ. Thanks!

I just gotta say. Major props to MysticMan. Not only does he give us heads up on the sweet CD-RW deals, but he gives us relative n00bs the soft treatment when we ask stoopid questions. I got in on the deal with his help after almost giving up after 2 CSR's turned me down. Third time's the charm! Mystic, you the man! Just for that, I've got a CD-RW drive I'm willing to sell you for cheap! :D

Score! Had the order pending from yesterday, and the OfficeMax rep (who was incredibly helpful) just called me back to approve the discounts and finalize the order. $109.99 - $30 instant rebate (she had to call the Columbia, SC store to check this) - $20 ($20 off $75 Office Depot coupon, which I had to fax it in for approval) + $4.95 in tax. Total charged to my card - $64.94. Subtract the $30 rebate and I get the drive for $34.94. It should be here on Monday. :D

For those who received the drive already, was it a Lite-On? I see that rayon and chungchang's drives are Lite-On's, and I'm hoping everyone else got the same. On CenDyne's website, the only firmware update listed for their 48x12x48 drive is Lite-On's VS06. Last question - did it come with Nero? I'm wondering what "CenDyne CD Mastering Software" is?

It took a little work to get the deal, but scoring the latest drive for less than $35 is worth it. Thanks tons!

DoobieOnline, Lightsider and monkied

Don't forget your FREE CD Player, althought I've heard that it a cheap model it should be worth the $0.37 stamp to get it.

Just check my link again for the office depot It seems they change from $25 off to $20 off. Oh well...
couple of people on this deal got it for $25 off though.
BTW. I send then the link by email. Ask the CSR for his/her email address and send them the link.
This way you save time compare to faxing them.

Yes. Mine is a Lite-on. Says so on the drive label. Came with NERO 5.5.8.0. Installed and patched it to the latest 5.5.9.0 from www.nero.com. Remember to flash the BIOS to VS06 from www.liteonit.com as mine maxed out at 40x until I flashed the BIOS. After that, everything burned at 48x.

Am I the only one dissapointed that these CDs are only rated at 16x or 32x? What is the point of buying a 48x burner if you can't get 48x CDs...at least for cheap...by the time I finish 200 CDs it will be time to buy a new burner!

What speeds have you guys been able to burn at?

I am talking about the CD-Rs themselves...am I out of the loop on something here. Can you reliably burn at 48x on 16x or 32x rated CD-R?
