dead CDROM drive?

i have an old CDROM drive that i can't get working. the light stays on when its plugged in and the button wont open it and windows fails to load when its connected. i guess the drive is broke? can i repair it?

I haven't heard of anyone repairing a CDROM in the condition that yours is in.

New ones are cheap..heck u can get a DVD burner for under 50.

yeah, i know . i will take it apart anyway i guess just for fun.
