Is this deal dead now? On FW somebody said that they cancelled the substitution. Is this true?
Yeah, I just got off the phone with them. They said it might still be possible to get at a B&M.

Well, I guess I lucked out at my store. I never gave the guy the good cupon code, he went without asking (had been called a bunch of times before he said) to his boss and got the code. it showed up on my recipt that that code didnt work, and i guess they used an override , something that says low price guarantee below it. 176.96 total price paid before tax.

Got my package today. Thanks OP!

Btw, does anyone know why the cameras were sold so cheap? Was this a system glitch(Price Error) or is OD trying to clear them out? Good deal either way. :)

i am SO bummed out i missed this deal!!! can't believe i sat waiting for a deal on this cam for a month, finally jump at it from dell for $300, and then it shows up for $200 less than a week later! Like a friend of mine said, there needs to be a filter on hot deals so it DOESN'T show you deals on stuff you already have!

and piss on all the jerks who buy 10 @ whenever there is a hot deal, just to sell it on ebay! how about letting those of use who actually WANT the item and intend to KEEP it get the deals instead of driving the price down on ebay for a few measely dollars profit?!

You ordered by phone on the 20th, correct?

They were sold so cheap because as the OD guy was telling me, they were clearing out the Nikon Coolpix 4300 which had a $180 rebate. Because there was not a "limit to stock on-hand," they used the Canon A80 as a substitute item and to compensate for the $180 rebate, they just gave an instant $180 off.

The problem was, most of my OD's had the 4300 in stock ;)

I ordered from Officedepot.com on the 21th around 7AM.

Well, just got off the phone with a CSR regarding my backordered camera. The automated line told me the order was on hold, which is much better than cancelled. She must be getting a ton of these irrate calls about this product b/c she was initially snippy with me when I asked her about the status of my order. Said she's been calling them in all night, and the warehouse has been cancelling these things left and right. Told me they had gotten hundreds of thousands of orders on this item, although that's probably an exaggeration. But I bet the whole friggin world basically tried to get this item on the cheap. So I smoothed things over with her and she told me the best thing was to not push the issue lest I get my order cancelled by a higher-up too. So she says the order should be fulfilled in 7-10 days, and if not, then I'm probably screwed. The best thing she said was to wait and see. I hate copouts like that, but I didn't want her cancelling my order.

Looks like I'll just have to cross my fingers on this one. If I get it, I'm gonna be broke for a bit, but I can take some great pics of my empty pockets. :D If it's cancelled, I can find some other toy to buy with the advice of this forum. ;) I'm gonna call the B&M store near me tomorrow to see if they have any in stock by chance. It's worth a shot at least. But I think I'm through worrying about this for the week. PEACE.

Just gone one A80 from Store for $199 out of door. Wally, the store manager was helpful. I told him that I saw the original deal and tried buying camera online but it won't show stock even though I have it. Then upon asking whether he can honor the online coupon he said he can not. :(

Then as I was exiting the store, he remembered something and asked his associate about the Nikon PM, thus he happily gave me 180 instant off and got my camera for $199. :D

Now need to see if there are anymore coupons for in-store purchase of $200 or more.!! Any help?

The delivery status now shows "Deleted by Delivery Center" for my order. Guess they are not shipping backorder items either. What pisses me off is that they don't even send any email to at least inform me that the order is cancelled.

Please explain... Are you saying get a Nikon (??) model instead of the Canon PowerShot A80? If so, which one?

EDIT: Nevermind... I just read this page from the top and realized what you're talking about. For what it's worth the local OD (Palm Harbor, Florida) had no A80's in stock (not even a display model) and they were still $379.

Wheeeee! Just came in the mail. Odd b/c as recent as yesterday, the phone service listed it as still on hold. Now I get home from work to find this mystery package sitting at my door, and it's the camera. I call up and the order is only now being processed. Wierd. No packing slip (I guess CC.com doesn't include one, since this is the second time now), and they haven't billed me yet. If I called up and canceled, would I get to keep the camera for free? :D Just kidding. Anyway, time to crack this box open and engage in the visual loving. Confirmed the order was $190 shipped too, so musta gotten both coupons as the original CSR told me, plus tax. :) :) :) I'm grinning ear to ear. I'd all but written this thing off and was about to move on with my life. Now it looks like I'm out $200 and have pretty much bought every gadget I could want, save for a new car and RC heli. If anyone spots one of those on the cheap, deal me in. :D PEACE.

My camera just arrived... It seems I dont have to worry about not being able to return it after I open it - there is nothing sealing the box. In fact, I think the only thing sealed in the whole package are 4 AA bateries. The back of the LCD thing as well as the piece that lets the LCD swivel both have scuff marks, small but noticable. The automatic lense cover thing also doesnt stay completely shut on its own. Are they all like this? Did I get an open box item? I'm not sure if this is anything to worry about....

They were incredibly helpful, she said that it should be a reasonably tight seal over the lense, and with the scuff she wondered herself. They are letting me use this one temporarily until I am able to swap one even!

Mine arrived without "factory" sealing wrap ...the only thing sealed were in fact, the AA's. I bought an A70 last May when they first available and I'm vaguely remembering the same packaging. There was no evidence that the camera had been handled ...nary a fingerprint. My Coolpix 5700 came without outer "factory" sealing wrap as well ...I'm trying to figure out the rationale behind this ...perhaps ensuring the contents and verifying the S/N? Good luck.

one last q about this deal - because of the circumstances, I have no idea if they would do it, but, Ciruit City is giving away a 128 MB CF card with this camera... can we pull a price/deal match on this?

i may be misunderstanding the reason why people keep bumping this dead deal (and knocking other ACTIVE deals down in the process  ), but i want to say as clearly as possible
canon digicams are not shrinkwrapped or sealed.
in fact, i have purchased about 30 digicams over the past three years, and NONE of them were sealed or shrinkwrapped.
how's that? hth
go forth and tell the children and womenfolk

edit: how is somebody gonna pricematch this? the sale/phenomenon is OVER
cc here don't wanna match an ad, let alone a deal from a week ago
if somebody gets it, please post the receipt :)
