The kit lens is crap anyway. I got this camera - very cool, but had battery problems and died after 2 months. It's in for repair now, 4 week wait!

$699 is a good price.

Very tempted to buy this - if I wasn't starting grad school in two weeks I'd be all over this. I also haven't held one of these in person and a lot of the reviews I read complain about the small size.

I got my silver with lens form Dell back in April!
It was 705.74 + tax!

Love this camera!
If you are beginer, I think the bundled lense should be fine to start with!

The bundled lens is most certainly NOT crap. The only problem is that quality control is an issue so you may not get one that is tack sharp. For $50 more, it is a must to get IMHO.

I agree. The one I have is very good, but I know ther have been quality control problems. I debated on whether to get it or not, but many said they had good ones so I gambled and got a great one. I say don't pass on it for the price.

I've had the camera for several months when dell first got it (It was around 760. shipped with kit lens) and it's an excellent camera.

$699 is a good price however already bought the camera - very nice, easy to use and intuitive. However I've had battery problems also. ~2 months and its off to the shop. Still waiting for an estimated repair date.
