This is the UK retail version, not US. It will play but be aware that some gaming companies have suddenly killed the multiuser code for versions not meant for the US.

Yeah, I have to disagree on that. Cutting edge graphics, new gameplay with the AC gunships/blackhawk missions and an absolute killer of a stealth/sniping mission. One of the best games I've played in 2 years. Worth ever penny at $ 35 if you play single player and then toss it or trade it like I do with every other game I play......

I'm sure you're right, but since the reviews for the SP and MP games are both very good, I'd hate to pay for a discounted version and only get half of the experience. Yes, I'm just being cheap and waiting for the price to dip below the ~$50 price range, but I'd still rather pay more to get the full product.

(Note: I do not know that the UK version is locked out of any multiplayer functionality in the US. Just heeding warnings and playing it safe.)

I agree. The SP is one of the best SP campaigns I have ever played in a realistic FPS. My only complaint is that it was too short but the replay value is great imo. I beat it on normal in about 6-7 hours. Play it on harder modes and it will take you longer. I am trying to go through it now on the hardest and it will take a lot longer but it's not that bad for me since I play search and destroy hardcore in MP a lot where it's no respawn and almost 1 shot 1 kill.

COD4's single player mode is amazing. It has a very cool and gripping storyline but also features an incredible dynamic of different styles and skills to utilize from close air support gunner on an AC130, to sniper, to grunt, to anti-terrorist SF airplane rescue. This game kicks butt. The little details also make this game really cool such as dizzy concussion effect when too close to a M1A1 cannon, enemies getting wounded and shooting from their back, higher caliber rounds punching through walls at lowered damage, and the details of the Javelin missile is just cool as all hell.

That being said the MP is also really fun. I typically play Search and Destroy on Hardcore mode (very similar to CS) but there are a lot of other modes as well. The cool thing is that different kits are viable for many different situations. You also rank up and earn kits, guns, perks (special bonuses like accuracy, etc) as you play more and get experience.

if you want the game for SP online buy it used ebay. I got mine for less than 30 shipped and it works online. Single player is pretty sweet MP is so so. Bit to crowded for the size of the maps but its pretty fun.

Anyone know what the shipped $ is/was. I got mine from Steam for 49 bucks and it auto updates. I know I paid a little more, but no cd and the ability to load on multible pcs was worth it to me.

I usually play SnD HC on 16-24 servers. I tried up to 40 and it was like a madhouse with 1 nade killing 5+ people. I also play on servers that have strict rules like no air strikes, nades, RPG, choppers, etc in first 20 seconds of the round. No noob tubes (M203), running and gunning, etc.
