Works for me, separate the two halfs of the e-code into the right and left boxes. Probably get a c1 chip, sell or use the cdrw, sdram, nic, hd, but the mb and case is a toss up.
c1 chip = $180 (see what the price is when the sellers get these)
7200rpm hd = $50 (if you dont want to wait for a hot deal and wait for rebates)
40/10/40 CDRW = $60 E-bay (might as well get the 48/24/48 for $10 more, $70)
256 SDram = $50 on E-bay
nic = $5 E-bay(can buy new for $10)
mouse/key = $20 (better quality than the cheapest W*lmart stuff)
XP = no idea, ?IS this a full retail version or just a "re-install" disk?
-----------
$365
Good find JFang888

Also adding a 15" LCD for $260 is not bad. They are excellent and the whole system would be $600+tx

Still if you had to buy it it would be at least another $120 for cheap mobo, case and P/S

The winXP is an OEM version - not sure if it's restricted to dell systems, but the cd states "for distribution with a new dell PC only"

Just to confirm, the mobo does have an AGP slot, right? I would pop in a Ti4200 and use this as another gaming rig.

I/O Ports

1 front miniature headphone jack
1 serial port
1 parallel port with ECP
1 mouse: 6-pin mini-DIN
1 keyboard: 6-pin mini-DIN

4 PCI slots

It doesn't look like it has a AGP slot

I have seen these systems at a customer. They are good for normal business applications, not sure if they would lend themselves to being modded a lot.

I just ordered two of these. When I got to the next to final click I got a pop up window that said one of my coupon codes was invalid and it added $50 back to each machine.

I clicked the details tab and the discount showed up again, $50 each. Just for arguement sake I decided to print this page then I hit submit order and it seemed to go through.

Seems like a good deal, keeping fingers crossed.

Pricewatch:

p4 1.8 )-------$130
256 sdram pc133-- $20
30gb 7200rpm HD--$60
40x10x40x cd burner $45
Cheap mobo with audio and video $45
Cheap case and ps $25
Keyboard and mouse $10
Windows XP home COA License , $50
I wont count anything else...fans, floppy, hs, other software etc.

$385

These are the absolute lowest prices on everything...so tack on $50-$150 for shipping and other variables.

Look at it like this:
Realistically the HD, proc. fan/hs and burner would run you $260 alone... @$340 this is a steal for sure!

Personally I could get $100 for the software keyboard and mouse. which would bring my cost down to $240 shipped.

Then I could sell the mobo, case and PS as brand new for another $70 bringing my cost down to $170....

then I could sell the burner for $40 ,HD for $50 and proc fas--hs for $130...

I made a cool $50 :)

Do they charge tax in all states? I don't think they have a business presence in Maryland.

Yeah....OEM version. That means that it's restricted to THAT particular computer. The Microsoft licensing states that as long as you don't change 5 major pieces of hardware on the system you can continue to use the OEM version. Of course, there's no way for them to track those changes. I don't think anyone likes their licensing practices, but alas....what can we do? :p

In the past there were re-installation disks that required use of a dell mobo with dell bios. So with the XP version I am just wondering if this can be loaded on a non-dell system (e.g., if someone changed the mobo only, but kept all other dell parts
;)...)

Got one of these as a NewYears gift for my folks, I was gona get them a DDR one with a "real" video card, but in the end i figured it just really wouldn't be of any use to them. Great deal, damn cheap, but I have to say the deal that I missed about a month ago on the 45xx model was a hell of a lot better.

Yes, the 4550 with the 15" lcd was the best deal. This comes close though. I ordered one as a test machine.

if anyone has a old email with a discount code on it then you can get a little off. I had a old email and at the bottom it had a link to send someone a 5% off code. I clicked the link and sent myself one. the 5% code easily worked on the purchase.
