I was on the 401 express today driving from Toronto to Ottawa. Traffic slows to a crawl, and then a stop. Next thing I know 3 ambulances blast by the 4 lanes of traffic, thank god the shoulder was clear.
Next EMS unit to go by is an an emergency team truck - but it was actually the size of a bus. It looked like one of the fire trucks they have at airports, the mammoth ones that have the water turrets on top. One of These, with a million lights blazing.
We drove by the accident about 20 minutes later, they had cleared the cars away, no idea what happened, but there were a number of people on stretchers being slowly loaded onto the huge ambulance, and another person on a stretcher with a medic chatting with someone, obviously dead as only his feet were sticking out from under a blanket.
Not sure about the others, but the other paramedics didn't seem to be running, and the other ambulances had already left, so I am assuming the worst for the others.
