How does this compare with the 2500k for gaming? Might pick it up for my new gaming rig.

LOL. Are you serious? If you are, the E-350 is a 1.6Ghz dual-core "Brazos" CPU, which is basically SLOWER than a Core2Duo clock for clock. Roughly, an E-350 is pretty close to a P4 3.4Ghz in overall speed, only it takes very, very little power.

It's not for a gaming rig, it might be ok for a HTPC (cannot decode Netflix HD, because Netflix HD doesn't support hardware acceleration, and the CPU is just plain too slow). It can, however, play back 1080P Flash video and MKVs that support DXVA.

It's ok for a very power-miserly putt-around the internet system.

Granted, a SB Celeron is faster, and has similar idle wattage due to power-gating. But the E-350 is cheaper still.

they kick ass at windows media center though. they stream hd content too now that they fixed Silverlight for e350's.

what a price.. you could build a fast htpc for about $200!...

The Q190 deal currently active is a much better deal if you are intending on buying all the parts.

If you want to use Windows Media Center, it costs extra with Windows 8. If you have the pro version of Windows 8, it is only like $10, so no biggie. But if you have the lesser version, which this system could very well have, the only way to get Media Center is to upgrade to the " pro pack" which is like $99. Huge difference, that is if you want to use WMC. One more reason to hate Windows 8, even though I have never used it.
