hi,

i got a evga 7950gt 256mb (unknow condition) from an auction and its doesnt give any video signal... so i decided to set the onboard video as primary video device to see if windows detects the pci-e card, and it was detected.

card info according to GPU-Z... looks like dead/corrupted bios?

A dead bios is a definite possibility. However just keep in mind that it's not the only possibility (fried hardware does weird things).

Go ahead and try to flash the BIOS and get back to us. I'm curious if that fixes it.

hi,

problem solved... it looks like the card was dead due to a failed mod to a 7900GTX. so, what i did? tried to re-flash with a 7950GT Bios but didnt work cause the Bios chip didnt accept the file(i dont know why). so, after some research on web, i decided to force a short-circuit the Vbios chip(i guess it erases the data store, im not sure), which allowed the re-flash procedure.

this guide helped me:

also got a lot of help @ mvktech.net

7950GT is back:
