Heh, I actually picked up a laptop bag today. I made the Best Buy employee print this out over there and used it on the spot 🙂

Looking for some advice from seasoned BB coupon uses.

I wanted to get the Vista upgrade. Its' full price now, but this Sunday, it will be $99. Would it be better to buy now at full price and use the 12% coupon, and then go back for a pricematch, or should I just wait until its on sale, and then try to use the coupon (which I think doesn't normally work on sale items?)

Theres no fine print about not being able to use it on sale items. You sure you can use a coupon on a operating system?

"1Markdowns taken from regular prices."

Edit: I think, from what I remember reading in the past, its a crap shoot with the employee whether they will accept it on sale items or not.

you know...i found out how to actually get these coupons. You just fill a change of address form and the post office sends you some.

Rock! I was planning on getting a DVD player, the $60 Philips upconverting 1080p with DIVX playback and USB port. Thanks OP.

Sorry, but they are firm on what the coupon says it's for, regularly-priced items. I tried no less than (4) stores and got a near-verbatim reply of refusal from each one. Woulda been nice to have saved another $200 off that Pioneer plasma ...

However, if it isn't good on sale items... 🙁

Anyways, the DVD player has a USB port on front which according to Philips can take flash drives for MP3 or JPG playback. However, I've read that people have hooked up HDDs formatted in FAT32 and have had them work for video playback.

Does Best Buy sometimes issue coupons good for mark downs on sale items? I ask because a couple of weeks ago I used a 10% off coupon on an external HD that was already on sale and I got the discount. I don't actually know whether the coupon had a special provision for sale items or not though. It was a coupon printed off of one of the coupon forums (SD or FW).

I've used similar coupons that I receive in the mail to get discounts on sale items. Just last week I used a 12% off coupon on a Linksys router that was on sale that week for $49.99.

I've used coupons on sale items many times. I never bring up the issue I just hand it to them and they scan it, end of story. It may just be in your area, because here they are very easy.

Are the only major appliances the coupon is good for a vacuum and microwave? I need a new washer/dryer.

I am going to give the coupon a try with Bioshock that is on sale and see if they will take it.

Thanks OP

Yesterday I finally got them to honor it when buying a couple DVDs that were on sale, but none of the stores I tried would budge on allowing its use for a sale-priced TV. The TV departments all have their own checkout registers and their salespersons seem "trained" on proper use of the coupon.

I was with one of my friends at BB today as he was trying to use this coupon on the Sony Bravia that was on sale. The clerk said the coupon cannot be combined with items already on sale, bummer. Maybe some of you could talk them out of it, YMMV.
