Would this UPS be ok to run the following:

AMD64 3000
2 IDE HD's
2 Raptor HD's
2x7800GTX (I don't have this, but I plan to get them when they come down in price)
19" CRT

Yes, you can disable the audible alarm.

I just ordered two of these UPS units yesterday (and a surge protector) using the special code. I?ve been waiting for Belkin to get these back in stock for a couple of months now, and saw them in stock yesterday. I own APC UPS but with the special discount, the Belkin units are a very good value.

Confirmed... code is dead... =( I've been waiting for these to be back in stock just to use that code too.

What a shame... that code was easy to remember... it's the same as my luggage combo! :)

P.S. I have friends who work at APC (the headquarters was 1/4 mile from my alma mater). They say their monitoring software is under improvement because of complaints.

It should be nice to see what APC comes up with. I currently have three APC units (one 1000va, one 325va, and a monster 3000va that I can't use due to a lack of a dedicated 30 amp circuit to connect it to (apartment life... ahh the suckage!)) and definitely prefer APC over Belkin any day of the week. I just wish APC would bring their prices down just a couple notches to make it easier for geeks to power their retardedly power-hungry home networks for longer.

Oh well, now to find a way to get the price of the BX1500 down lower, and snag an add-on pack for it as well. Any ideas anyone? (They seem to go for about $200 everywhere I've checked so far.)

check out APC's lower-level stuff under the brand "coxeant"

we got, basically, a 800VA for $60 and it has performed MASTERFULLY during MANY outages

FYI, the code works again, but it is not 50% anymore, it is 40% now I think because they took off only 80$ after I typed in the coupon

Thanks ordered one, $129 shipped. No tax in IL. This will replace my APC 650 that started smoking. :) My 3 other APC's are doing fine.

I hope you guys don't crucify me, but here goes my question. I have a regular $10 power surge. I suppose it protects me in case of a surge in the neighbourghood. For this more expensive UPSs, besides keeping my PC on for longer, is there any other reason why i should spend $100 on it???
Thanks!!

Surge doesnt keep your pc on at all if power goes out. I see two reasons to buy this over a generic surge.

1. Equipment warranty
2. It's a UPS.

So, for the warranty it is like an insurance, a perhaps $100 insurance? I live in Massachusetts and i never had in over 10 years any problem with surges, nor ever heard of friend or aquaintace losing their equipment. See, i am thread crapping, i just want to know the benefits over the regular power surge($10).
Thanks

Some people (like me) live in an area where the power is (not clean/goes out regularly/spikes regularly/lightning prone). I like to be able to watch a movie when the power is out, or play games. A ups let's me do this. Other people have servers that they need to have on 24/7. A 10 power strip is not going keep your computer (and modem :) ) on when the power goes out, nor is it going to "clean" the power comming in. Bad power hurts your computer's power supply and reduces the life of your components.

FYI: I happen to like Apple products too. So maybe I just like to blow my money. *shrugs*
