dead battery?

I was using the laptop with battery only this afternoon and all of a sudden the laptop shut down itself. Then I cannot boot up the system without using the power charger. The battery indicator keeps flashing in orange color when the power charger is connected. Does that mean it is a dead battery? Someway to test it? I bought the laptop new 8 month ago and it is hard to believe a battery can be dead so soon.

well, since it's still within the warranty, call Lenovo and get it replaced.

As much as it pains me to agree with you....i must. It is lenovo, they bought the stinkpad line from ibm
