I've got the PCI-e version of the 650. Pretty good overall, but I use Dscaler to watch TV because Catalyst Media Center is quite trash.

Which one is better - the PCI or PCIe version?

I'm leaning toward the PCI, as my smaller PCIe slot is blocked by the cooler and fans on my 4890. I don't need many of the features -- I just want to watch SD cable channels on my PC in a small screen while working. Will the PCI work fine for that?

Also, can anyone confirm this works on Win7 x64?

Thanks OP. In for one. Didn't really have a need, but it'll be nice to be able to watch TV in the office again... and, at $25, can anyone really complain? :)

FYI - Windows 7

Drivers for the ATI TV Wonder™ HD 600/650 series and All in Wonder™ HD series are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2010.

Went ahead and ordered the PCI version anyway. Sucks about not having Win7 drivers now (WTF is taking so long ATI?), but for $25 I can wait.

Thanks. Just saw that a Vista x64 driver is available for the 650 PCI. I'll give it a try but it should work OK in Win7.

Looks good, I was about to jump on it, but just remember these are the hybrid tuners and not the combo--meaning the hybrid has only one tuner that can pull in either a digital or analog signla but not both at the same time. Combo tuners, actually have two tuners on one card that can record or watch two signals at one time.

What a joke...can't even do your D.D.

Also,
Device Manager. Under "Other Devices", TV Tuner under the name of "Sound, Video & Game Controller". Right-click on it and choose Update Driver Software. Then Browse/Browse/Local Disc C/ATI/Support/Packages/Drivers/WDM7/Rio/LH64A. Click OK/Next/ and restart.

I've had a 650 PCI for a 1.5 years. It doesn't do Clear Qam - the PCIe does. The PCIe also came with a remote. The PCI version had a mail-in request for a free one - which they couldn't fill at the time I bought mine.

Good price,

I don't know why these old ATI cards are advertised as windows 7 compatible.
I believe these cards are...

*they are compatible with windows 7 if you use the included catalyst program
*they are not compatible with windows 7 media center
*windows 7 will detect the remote that comes with it as a usb keyboard/mouse
*does not include an IR receiver
*not compatible with ubuntu

i read that there is a "work-around" for the windows 7 problem, if you just want to use the card to view analog input from old 480i tv top boxes
output from coax on your box, and input to coax on the card, and and windows 7 media center will allow you to view channel 3

I have this card and paid much more than $20 for it and I can confirm the Vista x64 driver works perfect in Windows 7. You don't need a Win7 driver, vista drivers work fine. Just like XP x64 drivers work perfectly in Vista x64 and 7 x64... make sure you have the right one though (x32 vs x64)

In addition, this card works with Win7 MCE. I have the PCI version and QAM and the remote work perfectly. You are doing something wrong if you can't get them to work. I have the TV Wonder HD 650 PCI card.

One tip, do not install the Catalyst Media Center, it is garbage. Use Windows media center

Why does their website suck today... barely wanted to load, now when you go to place the order "the sale has not launched yet"... if they are sold out, it would be nice to just have a note about that...

otherwise 2 will be coming my way...
