I thought they had already slimmed their line of cars down to just a couple models a couple years ago.
Not a single attractive car on their product line. When I think of oldsmobile I think of a mobile for an old person. Bye bye!

I think you are correct. The line (as I understand it) was the Alero (lower end), Intrigue (middle of the line) and Aurora (nice car). They may have still been making an SUV but I am unsure. I just sold my father's (deceased) 2000 Intrigue. The depreciation on the car (with only 35k miles in great condition) was tremendous. I had to "give it away" for less then 1/3 new cost (year 2000 price).

I agree that Olds seemed to target ONLY the older customer (the ones with the $$$. I disagree with you about the attractiveness of the cars. I too own a Nissan but I had a chance to drive the Intrigue and it was a great car. You may find that your tastes will prob change as you get older.
True - they were badge-engineered into oblivion by the mid-70s.Originally posted by: notfred
They haven't built anything interesting since the 442.

Nope, not exactly. It went, in ascending order: Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Cadillac.Originally posted by: kranky
Wasn't Olds the "up-scale" brand of the different GM brands (excluding Cadillac)?
For awhile in the 1930's the Oakland slotted in above Pontiac and below Olds; and the LaSalle was a baby Cadillac.
Saturn has always been on its own planet.

Now if we can get rid of Buick, GM will be more rid of the crappy cars.

Woohoo--Another Intrigue owner! I love mine too. Black 1998 GL. I've had so few problems over the past 4.5 years.Originally posted by: PlatinumGold
in the mid 70's and early 80's the Olds Cutlass was the best selling car in america.
currently i drive an Olds Intrigue and it's a very nice car. looks good too. it's an underappreciated car. the Olds Aurora was a pretty good looking car too.
i think GM made a mistake, Buick or Pontiac should have bit the dust not olds.![]()

It's Intriguing that Olds hasn't made a decent looking car in years.
Glad to see them go though. What took so long?
Olds sucked. It was a crappy company anyway.![]()

Such a fun car. #2 to the Cutlass / 442, IMO.

Nice 442!
snipped due to bandwidth consideration
That was kind of hard to do in Roger Smiths cookie cutter vision of GM.

98? my parents had the same car, but in some metallic green colour that actually looked quite sharp.
