yes, you should get this instead..it is much better card..

3870 for $99 is ridiculous these days...you are paying a premium for old tech.

also, dont waste $60 on a 600w power supply.

your 350W will probably do fine for this card if it came in the Dell and has the PCI-E video power plug

if you do need a power supply. Get something like this one

no need for 600W in that system with a low power video card

The biggest reason I was going for the 600Watt power supply is that I may want to run 2 of these cards later and figured I might as well do it now, could I run 2 of these in a Dell Studio 540?

No its not the S, I was told by someone else the 3870 is better/faster, the number show it faster and its GDDR4 also. I need a better card, the 3450 is lacking performance.

It really hurts me to see people that jump to conclusions because the manufacturer says something is better.

Sapphire told him a 3870 was faster than a 4830..WTF is wrong with them?

the speed of the memory has little to do with whether a card is faster or not. In this case.....its not

I havent bought anything yet, but Im still wondering why they said the 3870 was the better choice over the 4830, Im stumped because everyone else sez the 4830 is hands down the better card, I may order the 4830 anyway. The tech guy at Sapphire also said not to try my 350watt power supply with either so Im looking at an Ultra 500watt now. Im pulling my hair out here guys lol.

would probably work with a quality 400w psu, but a generic is probably going to get warm and droop or just not really have 400w to give in the first place...

I ended up going with the Sapphire 4830 and a Ultra 500W power supply (hope it fits), every result I have read shows it better than the 3870 I was considering, so now the wait is on, should be here by Friday and really should be a simple install {again I hope}. Thanks for all the help, now if someone will stop by and install everything for me Ill be happy

I used a 4870 on a 450 watt no name psu. So those with a 350 watt should be fine with a 4830 imo. Pick up one of these if you are scared. Great reviews and they make OEM's for other companies.

I'd get a 4870 over 4830 crossfire, but that's me.

maybe I will just buy 1 for now=secondary puter and wait for higher end cards to drop a little more. never hurts to have a backup card anyway and will need something when i build my 3rd system; hopefully soon (will be used for NAS and distr computing).

you could crossfire these and get good results..at $130 for two of them it would be a good deal. However, I think a 1GB 4870 would still beat it..not sure though

Crossfire 4830s are pretty fast.
