*DEAD* Another Target Raincheck Deal - 43% off ANY DVD - YMMV

This deal will only work if your store is sold out of either Futurama or Simpson's season 1

Target has Futurama and Simpsons S1 on sale for $19.99 this week (sale ends Saturday). The reg price on these is $34.99. If they're sold out of either title, get a raincheck which will be good for 43% off any other regular priced dvd 😀

As most of us know, some csr's will let you buy any item in the same area with the raincheck while others are sticklers and will only let you use it on another dvd. Also, some will let you use the raincheck on a sale item while others won't.

Remember, play fair. Don't go in there and start stashing dvd's to get the rainchecks!

Forgot to mention, the raincheck I got today says it's good until 5-23-04.

Could you use this on The Sopranos Boxed sets?... i think they are $80 at target, so $34.40 off, not bad.... might be able to get a better price on ebay though

You sure can Nick. That's what I plan on doing tomorrow. I'm hoping my store won't get any in tonight so when I go back tomorrow to get the sub, I won't have to use the rainchecks I got today 🙂

Thank you Carmann!! I haven't even looked at the Tgt flyer for the week yet. Also thanks for your input on the Staples/Sams PD thread.

The target I worked at never did anything like this Ever.
I worked in electronics for about 1 and 1/2 years.
If the item was out of stock you got a raincheck which
you could bring back later to get that same item for
the sale price.
price cuts / specials / clearence do not qualify for
rainchecks Only items that say SALE in the ad.

Well maybe the policy has changed since you last worked for Target because any raincheck I've ever received from a target states exactly what the OP implied.

Seriously. It even says right on the rain check that it could be exchanged for another item in the same category for the same dicount.

it doesn't even mention that I have to take the original product when it is available. It cordially suggest that I can take an alternative in the same category, TV for TV, doll for doll. so if you got 50% raincheck for $20 TV, you can get the same 50% discount for $4000 TV if they have anything like that.

You could not be more mistaken. The target I went to ONLY allowed rainchecks on items that were SIMILARLY priced - they can use any interpretation of item in the same category they want. Thus don't set your hopes high for that soprano's DVD boxed set, seeing as how they will most likely make you purchase a DVD with teh same original price as the one that was discounted - hence, 29.99 oe 34.99, etc. This is from experience in VA.

I have fond memories of the Target Rainchecks for Madden NFL 2004 pc game. 66% off any PC Game!!!??! This isn't bad, but it may be more difficult to find stores sold out of Futurama or Simpsons season 1 as they have been out for awhile. Madden 2004 was pretty fresh when that deal happened.

The wording of their rainchecks does say you can sub a similar item. It did take a little convincing once or twice to get that honored once Madden 2004 was back in stock. Their wording pleaves plenty of room for interpretation. Once you've got your mitts on the raincheck, it's not too hard to find a clerk or manager with a willingness to accept the broad interpretation.

Many csr's interpret it differently. Thank goodness the ones that work at my local stores do exactly what the raincheck says - take 43% off a similar item (dvd for dvd). It doesn't say similarly priced item.

That being said I did pick up all 4 season of the Sopranos at 2 different stores. I didn't want to appear overly greedy by buying them all from the same store. The csr even gave me back my rainchecks to use again 😀

funkier, both may have been out for awhile but they haven't been priced at $20. Both stores that I've gone to have been out of one or the other.

jck8r, what do you think "ymmv" means? There are three target stores in my area. Two of them gave me no problems. The third one was a little flakey, but ymmv! Anyway, thanks for posting this carmann!

You are correct.

During another raincheck deal some people were having problems getting the % off another item because the item that the raincheck was originally issued for came back instock. Some people called Target's Corp office and were told they didn't have to use the raincheck on that item even if it was instock.

67% and I scored so many items on that deal! Even got my turbo tax deluxe for ~$14.88 - $10 MIR.

Another set people may want to look at is Band of Brothers. With the raincheck it will only be $51.29 + tax.

Indeed you haven't worked at Target for awhile. This started a little before November 2003.

You're thinking of the yellow slips, eh?

The Target that I stopped at yesterday said the same thing. Only items that say "SALE" qualify for rain checks. Since this was an "AS ADVERTISED"... no raincheck for me.

Rofl, I would start conducting a poll of the loyal Target shopper's if someone tried to tell me that.

'Sir, when you see something in your Sunday paper that is $10 less than normal do you think to yourself 'WOW, this is as advertised let's get to Target!' or do you think 'WOW, this is on sale let's get to Target!'

What a stupid word game. I'd never shop at that Target again. 🙂

Yeah, I know. It sounded extremely stupid to me. Still, it's the sort of thing that a department store would try to do.
