these are great for the price :D (mine is $7 after rebate).

only problem is I notice pretty loud hiss coming.. it doesnt seem to matter if volume is low or high, same hiss..

Yeah, they do 5.1--big whoop. The bass is terrible and the sound is not that great and I'm not even an audiophile. I'm going to see if the bass gets better with age, but so far, not good. Dont even bother listening to mp3s with even a little bass as it distorts very easily and sounds icky.

To contrast, my 6 yr old set of Altec Lansing ACS 48 speakers have deep thumping bass and pretty good satellite speakers, but they are only a 2.1 setup. I might go back to them though for the deep bass in games and mp3s.

these speakers have a lot better range than the logitech z-640s with boomy bass and muddy highs...

not much people like boomy bass that washes out their music..

picked these up, should come out to about $15 after rebate

it's nice to have the 5.1, i had to turn the sub to about halfway (otherwise, as previously mentioned, it's muddy) as well as adjust the equalizer on my sound card to get it to sound good. i'll give them a try, for $15 it's nothing to lose but right now i'm not sure if the hiss will bother me that much.

out of the box i didnt think they sounded that great compared to my old aiwa speakers, but w/ the eq adjusted i'll give these a chance

btw, anyone else notice that both rebates ask for a copy of the UPC, so technically i coudl just return these for $100 if i don't want them...? i dont think i will cause it's fraud but i tought that was weird that the more expensive one doesn't ask for the actual UPC.

Question on Rebates, they (both) say...

1 rebate allowed...

Per Person
Per Household
Per Purchase

Does this mean I can get as many rebates as I want (using the same Name and Address) as long as I buy each speaker set individually?

mine are going back to CC. Crackling sound from the left speaker in games. Also my logitech Z-640s produce a much better sound than these.

Just waiting on Logitech to get me my new speakers since the right rear speaker for Logitech started getting some static. I will prolly keep these for another 3-4 days and see if the crackling sound goes away or not. If not, they are definately going back to CC. I might think of exchange but imho, the logitechs are much better and they feel much more solid.

You sure you don't just mean, much stronger bass and midrange.. but lacks clarity?

I know that the logitechs produce a large amount of bass but you can always customize the software to reduce it.

i am speaking in terms of clarity and build quality. The logitechs do sound much more clear and their build quality is superior.
Also, the crackling noise out of these brand new speakers is not a good sign. I dont here it doing normal operation or listening to music but it becomes evident in games.

No, you can only but 1 at a time with a rebate. Any additional will sell without the rebate. Of course, you could print it online, but you would have to use a different name and address and, of course, have a separate reciept for each purchase.

Got rejected at 1 CC because I just printed out the webform and she told me they don't price match online stores. Came home and got that doc file (thanks) and went to another CC and it worked like a charm. Now for the rebates.

I got rejected too, they call up one of the local compusa store in my area and said they dont have it in stock in the store, but they have it online, so they wont pricematch it. I thought circuitcity pricematch online too. Hey what doc file works like a charm? still wanna get these speakers.

Nope, which speaker is the hiss coming from? I can hear a faint noise if I listen closely to my center speaker, but other than that it's good. I'd return your set for another if I were you.

Thanks for the word doc, but the pic of the speakers cuts off part of the middle section of text (mdl #, sku #, etc). Did anyone else's?
Also when they ask what this printout is, what is it?? It doesn't look anything like the checkout pages I see at compusa.com.

When I went through checkout at compusa.com, it never did change from $77.09. Why? Also it's showing $15.70 shipping and $8.59 tax to boot.

Where do you guy see the 15% save instantly on this product?

When is the rebate expired? Does the rebate print out at CC?

How do you price match when it say "(Not Available In-Store)"?
