i dont believe suse has a trial version. u can d/l the exact same software online. it's just that suse doesnt make it easy for one to install cause they dont provide cd images.

You can download the GPL programs but some of the non-GPL stuff you can't get without a CD/DVD.

I was pretty steamed, because I had ordered this back on 7/6 and I am leaving for college next saturday, meaning I probably wouldn't get it :|


I woke up this morning, and went downstairs. The mail was sitting on the kitchen table, and on the top of the pile was the Linux Technical Resource Kit 😕

I am Happy, but really confused by the e-mail. Whatever. Glad I finally got it. :beer: Keep hoping people.
 
got mine a couple days ago too. I never recieved any of the e-mails and had given up hope on it. Currently running the 64-bit version on my box, but this will be good for converting some friends to linux.

If you read the link you posted, it looks like they offer "free installation assistance and upgrade protection for 30 days"

Nowhere on that page does it say that your Enterprise Server software is time-limited.
Also, please view the many, many other comments in the thread saying that the software is NOT limited and IS the full version(s).

That is the beauty of Open Source, the software is free to use for those who wish to download it.
The vast majority of open source companies make thier money off support contracts and training, not off of software licenses.

BTW, still no linux lovin' in my mailbox yet. 🙁
 
Got mine. Anyone install on AMD 64? I put in the 9.1 Professional DVD and it said "cool computer but installing 32 bit OS on 64 bit system"... Hrm... 9.1 Pro. is supposed to have AMD 64 support ;(.
 
There are amd64 9.1pro .iso's out there if you look. 🙂
I got tired of waiting, fired up bit torrent , and had the dvd .iso in a few hours. 🙂

Not exactly 100% true. This collection has a 32-bit only DVD of 9.1 Pro on it. I got mine over a month ago and was hoping it had the 64-bit version. I ended up going to BestBuy and buying the 9.1 Pro retail package, used a 10% off on it. Yeah, could have snatched it on bittorrent, but I wanted a good original set.

I was hoping there was going to be a 64 bit version too, bummed to hear it isn't in the mix. Guess I'll start up the BitTorrent too. Weird too, when you click on the 9.1 Professional link on the order form, it takes you to the description which includes the following:

" Ready for 64
SUSE LINUX 9.1 Professional offers more power for users of 64-bit CPUs. It is the first operating system to support Intel's® Extended Memory 64 Technology and AMD's Athlon(tm) 64 processors for workstations. When we say "support", we mean it: almost all of our software has been ported for the 64-bit architecture and is able to exploit the performance potential of the new chips. "


That being the case, why wouldn't the 64 bit stuff be in there somewhere? I don't take that to mean, yeah our 32 bit stuff works on 64.
