Ah, I see. Why does the Newegg page link come up with "Jellyfish" in it?

Jellyfish is the shopping search engine/cashback system that Microsoft bought and integrated to create their Live.com cashback search.

Ah, thanks! 🙂

it is exactly the same card as 8800gs, same specs, speeds, everything. unfortunately, I believe that 9 series and 8 series are artificially differentiated via drivers these days, so you might end up having some trouble sli-ing them together.

Ordered one. I was originally looking at getting a 4670 but I just couldn't resist the price on this card.

Thanks!

Just cancled my 9600gt SSC preorder from frys and grabbed this, was tired of waiting and this was like $20.00 cheaper with msn cash.

and will be good enough for 720P on my HDTV for most if not all games.

This card is overclocking champ. This EVGA model also has 1ns ram good 1000+ mhz. Core and SP clocks are given at G92 speeds. It's more in line with 8800gt when overclocked.

The most amazing fact is the overclocking potential of this card. We saw overclocks of 27% on the core and 30% on the memory, matching the GeForce 8800 GT's performance.

I thought this was the 9600GSO though?

UPDATE: Oh...sorry lol, didn't see that it was the same card essentially.

If that's the case, then this is CERTAINLY a steal...I might want to finally drop some cash for a video card and get this. $50 is a damn good deal.

sry, my bad. This is a great deal then...since the 8800GS oc's to 8800GT speeds.

Anyone know any possible mods to push oc'ing further?

Think these in SLI are faster than a 4850 for 19x12? Benchmarks for a single solution card didn't show a huge drop off despite the 384.

this card is indeed a choice, as long as you don't play at resolutions higher than 1600x1200. My evga 8800GS (single-slot cooler) happlily runs at 720/1050, while staying at less than 70C with the fan at 60%, which is just barely audible. Frankly, playing at 1280x1024, I could hardly tell it apart from my 8800GTS G92, except at rare moments when there's a lot of action. In for one, thanks.

its faster than a gtx280 if you overclock & sli them - but there is resolution limitations due to frame buffer & complaints of sli "microstutter"

I would get one of these in a minute if it used less power than my 8800GT but from what I've read, it does not. The cooler alone doesn't justify replacing my 8800GT (bedroom and I want it cool and quiet). This is a great deal if I were building another PC for more than just websurfing. The HD4670 looks great on power useage but this seems to edge it out on many games and this is about $30 cheaper than any HD4670 right now. I'll just wait...but I'm damn tempted...😀

I'm building an htpc right now. I have a 4850 in my main gaming rig and a fanless 7300gt in my "fileserver" (code for seti crunching box that wife thinks I use to store files 😉). Rather than act like a normal person and just take the fileserver downstairs and add one of those hauppage hd tuners, I see here an opportunity to build a whole new "htpc" rig then buy a nehalem system to take over fileserver duties in q4 or q1.

ok, here's the question: do I jump on this deal for $50 shipped AR and dump it in my main gaming rig (and move the 4850 to the htpc) or should I get a 4670 for the htpc?

ps: engineer, according to your link they might be moving to 55nm for all the g92 cards. have you heard anything to confirm/deny this?

"move the 4850 to the htpc"

I would think that the 4850 puts out WAY too much heat for your htpc. The 4670 would be much better in that environment.
