Seriously, wouldn't you have to pay ahead of time for at least some amount of hours? I mean, is the business practice to just let you go sit at a computer and when you are done (and still alive) they say, "$8/hr * 86hours, that'll be $688." "Thank you, and come again." (I have no idea the hourly rate, but, it can't be <$2.00, can it?!! All the travel I've done where they have inet access it's at least $8/hr.) So, I have to believe you pay ahead of time. My guess: Either he had rich relatives or he did some cash business which I'd wager was illegal and contributed to his long waking hours.
I think it's something like 2 bucks an hour over there. The two big ones in korea right now are Starcraft and Bloodsomethingoranother a mmorpg.

No, its less than a buck an hour. You get a super comfortable high back chair, nice 19" KDS (surprise) monitor, free coffee or tea (gotta pay for soft drink). And you can smoke like a chimney.

i can't stay up for 36 hours without passing out. how he stayed awake for 86 i dunno, he musta been some freak of nature. after 24 hours u start doing microsleep and stuff that u can't really control consciously, thats why its so dangerous. in his case it would have been long blink = dead game character or whatever, thats no fun.
i think i remember reading that studies where they kept lab animals up killed em within a week, so this makes sense.
if only it were that cheap here i doubt you could make money at all for 1 buck an hour here. i'd be willing to pay 4 bux or so if they threw in some starbucks
