You guys who ordered the MSI card at Dell for 208+tax don't cancel your order.

I ordered on 11/29 and I was shocked to see that they shipped my card yesterday. I have DHL tracking number and have been following it to FL. Should be here tomorrow.

The weird thing is that they changed my order to an Evga 8800GT 512MB Superclocked! So not only am I getting an 8800GT at that great price but it will be an Evga with game. Pretty sweet deal.

I have no explanation for this but if I got this lucky maybe others will too.

I think this is more of a genuine messup... they probably only keep very low stock levels and order items as needed. It is a wise choice but this time something else happened:
1. They had a 50$ most their video cards (I checked, these weren't the only cards with the 50$, they had the 3870s as well as some other cards with 50$ off).
2. It was a very popular item with small supply amounts.
3. The price before the discount was MSRP (they were completely clueless about the lack of supply, price gouging, etc)

All this combines to dell not being horrible assholes, but rather just clueless. They went about their business as usual and for some reason instead of the usualy 1-2 order a day per item they got 10k orders a day (made up number but probably accurate).

I am not writing dell off because of this though. I went ahead and canceled my order and thats it.

Yes taltamir, you missed the memo. This week is "Make taltamir cry like a girl!" week. Haven't been too successful as of yet, but you can change that!

Just purchased the eVGA G92 GTS (w/Crysis, which I have yet to purchase or play) for ~$364 including shipping from newegg, with the hopes that it will pay off via the step-up program. Good idea?

Woot!

Just be patient guys, it's not like this is a SCAM...either you'll be fortunate enough to get the card shipped in a timely fashion ("timely" meaning "before Christmas"). Just wait it out, I doubt you can match the Dell deal for the MSI 8800GT at $208, even less if you use the -$50 AMEX bonus as well.

I canceled my order and went with the vanilla EVGA from newegg. I prefer EVGA's for the step up and its only $259. It will be here in 3 days.

I don't care about christmas... I don't even know WHEN christmas is.

Anyways, I also don't think it is a scam... But I canceled and I am simply gonna end up skipping the 8 series... there is simply no justification for me to get it. No high end games left to play :p

My AMEX $50 Dell gift card cost me 5000 points. So technically, It wasn't free. I spent quite a bit to earn that perc.

Goaty, thanks for the heads-up! This should be encouraging. On the other hand, only you and one other poster actually got shipped to, and both of you ordered on 11/29 - days after most everyone else. And you both got the EVGA upgrade. The rest of us got delay notices. So congratulations on winning dell-ottery!

Yes glad to hear that someone made out on the deal. I ordered on the 24th and all I got was delay notices. Amazing that someone who ordered days after the fact was able to get a card from them before the early orderers. Anyway my gts will be here tomorrow so I'm happy anyway.:D

Geez you gotta love a guy who has been a member for 1/2 year calling me a liar.

Only 152 posts in 7 years and you think I am trolling?

I have better things to do then make a jpg, remove my private info, and post to a photosite to make you feel better. Believe what you want

For the polite members of this board:

When I ordered the MSI card on the 29th, I did not receive confirmation email immediately. I had to call them on the 30th to see what was going on. I didn't do any begging or arguing. 5 minutes after the call I received the confirmation email and it had the item as

Order Description: e-GeForce 8800 GT Superclocked 512 MB PCI-E Graphics Card

I didn't believe it either and was shocked when it shipped. Since 8800GT stock is improving every day it may be worth a try to call them, say somebody else got their MSI switched to an Evga, and can they do the same for you.

Good luck!

Good news, I got my card upgraded to overnight for free like many others who I assume had their cards delayed. News from the Taj Mahal (that's in India for the uneducated) my card should ship today. The english speaking rep told me that usually if a delay will happen they have 24 hours notice in their system. I don't know if that means the Card is the MSI I ordered or if they will send an EVGA card instead.

If my order is delayed contrary to what the Dell rep in India claimed, my next post will have four letter words throughout.

Didn't say that, but I don't think people should get their hopes up without proof.

Must be a busy guy. That takes all of what, five minutes with MS Paint? And it's not just for me, you'd be doing one hell of a service to everyone who got in on this deal.

I believe what the evidence says. And so far, all I or anyone else seems to have is a cheap MSI card that may not make it to our doorsteps this year, if at all. I'd love to receive an EVGA before Christmas for the same price as the MSI. If that happens, I'll probably piss my pants.

Fair enough. I am not signing up for a photosite for this though, they are spammers.

If you PM me your email address I will send you a JPG of my order status.

I just received/installed the card, it came with ETQW game.

I received my email from Dell today stating its been delayed until Jan 16th. I ordered it on Nov 28. BOOOOOO

I ordered another MSI 8800gt from Newegg yesterday because I figured this would happen.

I wanted SLI anyway so....hopefully they send me the MSI I ordered.

Good for you!

I cancelled my MSI dell order placed on the 24th last weekend and ordered an EVGA superclocked from ClubIT for about $295 shipped. Just received it yesterday.

I would venture to say that Dell didn't "upgrade" your order, but rather f'd it up. Maybe your order didn't process properly in their system and when you called they tried to fix it using the wrong card. Just a theory. Regardless, you got lucky!

I ordered a iRiver mp3 player from Dell a year and a half ago. A week after ordering it my DHL tracking info still didn't show any details. When I emailed requesting a status update I was informed that they had "misplaced' my order. They went ahead and sent another one overnight to me. Two days after receiving the overnight package I received the original one they misplaced. Only got charged for one.

They fu*cked me! The operator in India lied to me! My order is delayed until Jan 15th. My original order was placed on Nov. 28th. I get free overnight shipping sometime by the end of 2008, fu*ck.

Well hans while I was speaking to dell cs the other day after my 12-10 ship didn't happen they tried to tell me that it was rescheduled for 12-12. At the same time dell emailed me with a new ship date of 12-17. Seeing that I didn't believe either date I cancelled my order and went to newegg for a new gts. I won't order from dell again.

Yeah, I just went and got the eVGA G92 8800GTS for $364 w/shipping...I had to purchase Crysis anyway, so it really comes out (for me) at about $300 shipped, and hopefully I'll be able to step up to the new cards (will be tight). I don't regret my decision either, rather deal with Newegg than Dell any day of the week.
