that xfx bottom link is still working... 255 dollars isnt bad, especially for XFX warranty and all.

Providing it ships this year. Considering no vendor can keep them in stock even at twice MSRP, I wouldn't hold my breath for Dell to miraculously produce a hundred thousand cards to fill all the orders.

that rumor about them taking the page down when out of stock? its probably true since the took it down once before, and after it came back up everyone who ordered had a ship date of 12th of dec instead of 10th of dec... Then they ran out of stock on these and now the page is down again...

I've heard from a dell chat session that my msi 8800gt will be shipped by or before 1/10/08! I ordered on 11/27/07, though they did upgrade to next day shipping

If I have to wait until after January 10 to receive it, it's quite possible that prices will decrease to near what I ordered it for and that a better deal will come available by the time they finally have them in stock, in which case I'm likely to just order a card from a better company elsewhere for a similar price and just cancel my order.

No harm in waiting, if prices go lower than Dell's, just cancel. If it doesn't, well, you have a preorder of a card at a price lower than the other 8800GTs out there.

QFT... if I find a better deal and it hasn't shipped yet... I just cancel.

Did you ask for your 8800GT to be upgraded to overnight shipping or did somebody else get that upgrade for free? I too am waiting for Dell to ship my 8800GT. I don't plan to cancel my order but I wouldn't mind complaining about the long delay and ask for upgraded shipping.

My order is supposed to ship by 12/13/07.

I called Dell CS yesterday and asked for free next day shipping, the agent upgraded me for free with no problems! My shipping date is 12/13/07 also, and originally my order said delivery date was 12/18-12/20. I checked today and it now states 12/14. I just hope they actually ship on time!

Dell Customer Service just checked my XFX 8800GT order. It was scheduled to ship on 12-12 but she said at current estimate that it would not actually ship until 12-19 due to supply issues. She offered to upgrade me to free next day shipping without me even asking. Here's hoping it actually comes in before Christmas.

Pfft...i was on with them earlier. I TOLD two different techs I needed this this as soon as possible because i bought some new pieces for my machine and I can't check them until i have a video card to make the system work and that because of their delays i'm getting close to 30 day mark when returns get much harder. No offer of free next day shipping for me :( They said they're putting in a request to the vendor to expedite my order, by I seriously doubt it. They're telling me new ship date is 12/19 - and I ordered mine on the 26th.

I kept asking for a date of when the shipment of 8800gt's was coming in, and i said i needed it before christmas, and he simply offered me next day shipping, so he wouldn't have to tell me. My friend actually got them to give him a date, and next day shipping.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I ordered mine on the 11/28 and have a ship date of 12/13 still on my order. I will give Dell a call next week to see if they want to give me free overnight shipping. I've bought one desktop and 2 notebooks from Dell in the past. I bought my desktop in 2000 before Dell offeredonsite repairs. Back in the day, customers were instructed step by step how to add ram and replace video cards. Dell taught me how to build computers and I've never looked back. I've been building my own computers since 2003.

Dell obviously has not copied the business format of newegg.com,zipzoomfly.com, clubit.com and others. I don't know why Dell would sell graphics cards that are not in stock for weeks. However, the price was right and I used my AMEX points for $50 off the price.

Here is a link to the new 8800GTS G92 card that is being released in the next couple of weeks. According to the review, the 8800GT is still the bang for the buck winner.

In fairness to Dell, they did list "Usually ships in 1-2 weeks." They didn't say it was in stock when you bought it.
