Well I'm just sick and tired of people complaining about companies. I understand that sometimes the policies screw honest people over, but they put them in place because people have taken advantage of the company before. For instance, before CD burning came about, there really wasn't a software return policy at most retail stores, but guess what happened? People started cheating the company so they made a new policy. Don't judge the whole company by the rude actions of a few individuals at your stores. I guarantee that if you came into my store and dealt with me, you'd have a lot better experience. If you don't like a particular store's management or customer service, don't generalize and stereotype the whole company. That's all I'm saying, and maybe "go to hell" was overstepping my bounds so I apologize. When I see all the posts about the "legal action" against the company I can't help but laugh. Do you honestly have nothing better to do than sue a company so you can get a meaningless piece of electronic equipment? I for one do, but take it as you may.

Peace

My conversation with my local comp rep said that they are in the compusa warehouse, but they aren't allowed to ship to stores and 'they don't know why except that nvidia has something to do with it'

Take that for what it's worth.

That doesn't sound too good.

Why would they hold the cards if they had them in stock unless either PNY or nVidia had something to do with it? The cards are going to sell like hotcakes, but a contract is a contract. My store only has 3 on order at the moment, and you know I'm getting one!

"Take that for what its worth...."

Today is the day! *I hope!* Even though I'll be at Sea World in a few hours I'm going to be calling CompUSA up on my cellphone to find out if they got them in today :)

::Crosses Fingers::

Forgive me, user1234, for I have whined about this deal!

What were they thinking :p You realize ONE of these stores makes anywhere from $50,000 to $350,000 dollars a DAY. And that's during the slow season...it goes up a lot more during the holidays.

I hope you don't seriously think determining a company's profits is as simple as multiplying the shelf price of the item by how many are sold.

Well yes...while my business degree isn't from Harvard and retail experience is a few years old I'm still aware of the many different issues surrounding this. My reply was actually a counter to an earlier post that stated CompUSA would have to close stores and layoff employees to be able to cover the "losses" of selling the cards to the people who got in on the pre-order. As for current estimates I would love to know how many CompUSA really sold like this nationwide...I would be surprised if it hit 500 much less a 1000.

Anyway today is the day until they push the ship date back again. I would still like to receive this card but I don't have much hope of it and will be cancelling my order if it doesn't arrive in the next few weeks...I'm paying interest on a $300 purchase (and CompUSA is earning interest) for something I may not see.

Hey, just wanted to let everyone know that I just got my call... my GTs are in the store waiting for me. I read another report of someone else getting the same news, too, so if you got in on this deal for in-store preorder, there's a good chance your card is in or may be in soon.

As for quality, these seem pretty solid. Card 1 passes the built-in o/c test up to 430/1160 (failed higher), card 2 passed up to 440/1200 (I stopped there). I ran through 3dMark03 at 430/1140 and scored around 12500 (NF2/B-Mobile 2390mhz/217 bus/cas 2). Not bad for some preliminary testing! :)

I can make this offer, but with an AMD tshirt too!

This would be one of those catch 22 trades tho...fast CPU/mobo, then average gfx card. Fast gfx card, but now you have average CPU/mobo. How about AMD Athlon 64 2800+ Retail and Abit KV8 and $100 for a 6800GT?

I think I will do better by selling my AMD combo on ebay. THe money from that should be enough to get an ultra...
