DEAD 400 watt case $38 shipped at Geeks -- pretty cool looking

http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=0209-4HL This is a pretty cool looking case for $32 after the 10% discount code which you know where to find, bens bargains among other sites. Shipping via your choice of either Fed-Ex or UPS ground is a low $7. Final cost is $38 and change.

I think this has a decent power supply. I am pretty sure it is this Powmax/Leadman supply: http://www.dealsonic.com/dealsonic/pow40sinfana.html

While these will never be confused with expensive cases, they work quite well. I especially like the 3 1/2 drive cage which extends all the way to the bottom of the case. There is a place for an 80MM fan in the front which would probably cool a couple of drives, but this fan is not included. Front USB ports included. One fan included below the power supply. If you want to spend three dollars more, there is another almost identical case that is brighter silver.

Don't order anything extra or your shipping cost will skyrocket. I ordered a couple of USB cables and suddenly my shipping was $13 instead of $7.

Best deal Ive seen with a PS and a window, had to pick one up 🙂

It dose mention it comes with a LED fan too (ooooo....ahhhhhh)

Nice deal, thanks!

I have built a few systems with these, and they work fine. The power supply provides plenty of juice for an AMD system.....

Thanks for the heads-up. I've been looking for a cheap case that's nicer than the cheap plastic ones to build myself another system with. Good deal!

nice....excellent for the new AMD power rig i am about to build! good deal

EDIT: IT says it can fit 2 80mm fans in the front?? Also, "Power Supply does not have ventilation holes on its bottom as AMD recommends, but the case fan mounted underneath the power supply should ensure
enough airflow to cool the processor (along with a proper heatsink/cooling fan
on the processor. " Whats that all about??

Is this a mid sized tower or full tower? I dont want my next case to be too big. Thanks~

PS whats the difference between 0209-4HL and 0215-4HL found here . They are the same price and look identical?Cases

I think what they are saying here is that the reason AMD likes vent holes in the bottom of the power supply is so any heat lingering around the CPU can be exhausted by the power supply fan (which is blowing out) through these bottom holes. Since there is a case exhaust fan underneath the power supply, they are saying this will remove the CPU heat instead. (Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong).

The cases are very similar, with only slight changes on the front design. One does qualify for a 10% discount where the other does not. These cases do have room for two front 80mm fans if you want your computer to sound like an airplane.....🙂

Think this will run an xp2100 alright? My cheap 350W won't boot if I plug my case fan in, so I suspect it wants more power...

Also worth noting, the Geek Special one has the USB and sound on the side, not the front. I was going to get that one, but prefer the ports on the front.

This is a mid-size tower. It is probably just over 16 inches tall. By comparison, my full tower is 24 inches tall and drives in the very top need longer than 18" IDE cables. With this case there isn't a long stretch to any of the drive bays. With a 3 1/2 floppy drive installed, there are three hard drive bays left.

I have already built two AMD 2100 Athlons (Fry's $99 specials w/ ECS MB) with this case. Stable at this stock speeds. O/C' ers should upgrade the P/S as this P/S is on the good end of crummy. Front fan takes about ten minute of labor. SVC $5 CPU fan.

Nice, no, better than nice looking! Put in a $15 cold cathode, or neon - your kindergarten classmates will ooh and aah!

I am probably going to order 1 tonite but I was thinking....doesn't the beige colored drives look kinda weird against the silver color case??? or does everyone get drives that are silver colored???? just asking out of curiosity

I guess spray painting the drive wouldn't be the greatest idea...

I bet there are a whole ton of people who have beige drives in black cases, which in my opinion would look very wierd indeed. I bet the silver/beige combo doesn't look near as wierd as that.

growltiger....maybe I would not spray but....if the case did not look right to me I know myself too well and could see me trying to delicately brush a silver color to match the case with either success or disaster looming!! black would go against the silver...geeeeeez I am sounding like an interior designer:Q

Let's see....$38 Silver Color case w/decent crummy P/S....Silver Color CD + SC DVD + SC FD...I guess SC Mouse and SC Keyboard...oh forgot the SC Monitor....SC padded walls

Hehe - I hear ya! What sounds simple to do usually (for me also) turns into something that costs me more money to fix/redo
