DEAD -- $3.99 Memorex Keyboards, CompUSA B&M, NO MIR

I was looking for a cheap keyboard without having to deal with a MIR and as luck would have it, there are some inexpensive branded keyboards at CompUSA for $3.99 each, no rebates, no waiting time on shipping. It's advertised in this week's flyer and may sell out but if your store is anything like mine, they'll have more than enough of these things throughout the week.

Both available at B&M and online, but shipping kills the deal online.
edit: sold out online.
edit2: looks like the deal expired Christmas.

Memorex MX2750 (sku 300137)
$19.99 - $16 IR = $3.99 + tax

Memorex MX2700 (sku 300138)
$14.99 - $11 IR = $3.99 + tax

I've got the MX2750 in another machine and although it's not uber quality, it works and I find it pretty comfortable to type on.

LOL, I spilled coffee on my keyboard this morning and it went klaplut! I had one of these memorex keyboards laying around unopened that I picked up at CompUSA for next to nothing a few months ago, I hooked it up. Not a bad keyboard. Good deal, I'm gonna stop by Comp and pickup another one. Thanks.

Glad some people find it useful. Just got back and as predicted, they've got these things stacked ~30 high, 2 rows deep each... and that's only the ones in the front of the store. 😛

Cool, I need to go pick up a couple chrome ones to go with the Chyang Fun barebones cubes I got from the Newegg deal a while back.

WTF? Added 10 to my cart, and it says shipping is $82 ground. I live like 10 miles from the store :Q

Thanks, I picked up two. Apparently, the only real difference between the models numbers is, the 2750 is black/dark grey, with silver trim, and the 2700 is white, with a blue/yellow Memorex logo. I think that the black one looks slightly spiffier, myself.

They also had a non-multimedia/internet keyboard, that appeared to be nearly identical in feel to the 2700 model (also a white color), marked "spillproof", for $10. (Not on sale, unfortunately.)

What are the odds, that both keyboards are actually made from the same materials, and that both are in fact, "spillproof"? I'm guessing, that both use the cheap but durable, rubber-dome membrane contacts inside, most "soft touch" keyboards do. (rated at 10 million keystrokes, according to the back of the box)

They're amazingly, not total crap, for a cheapo retail keyboard. The extra "multimedia" buttons worked fine too, in Windows XP + SP1 Pro, without even installing the driver CD. It's a little scary though, the "instant power-off button", sitting there right above the F9 key. I would hate to hit that key in the middle of battle, in a FPS game, and accidentally power-off my PC. 🙁 I hope installing their driver software will allow me to remap and disable that particular key.

For $4, these are definately excellent, for bundling with self-built systems, for most home users. Thanks!

and i was thinking about the memorex spillproof keyboards. these actually look a lot better for $3.99

Picked up 4 of the silver/black ones at the Mountlake Terrace WA store. Don't despair if you don't see any on the shelves - I had to have an employee go get them out of the back room for me. Nice looking keyboard to "accessorize" your silver or black computer.

Ah crap, it's showing sold out in nyc. Is there any chance of them restocking these or should I go to B&M and check it out anyway?

i just picked up 2 2700s @ industry, CA. couldn't find any 2750. there were a couple 2700s left, but they wont last.

btw, i was trying to differentiate the 2700 and 2750. the only difference i could find was the color. were there any other differences?

thanks!

I got two mx2750's in the NYC compusa at 37th st. and Fifth Ave today at 6:30pm. Of course, this happened after the website said it was no longer available in any stores around NYC. Half an hour earlier it said it was available in those same stores around my area, so I knew something funny was going on. They had at least four or five mx2750's still on the shelf before I left. I saw some mx2700's stacked in the aisle, but I have no idea how much are left since I didn't count them.

Certainly none that I could see. Interestingly enough, I noticed that my reciept, which was for one 2700 (white), and one 2750 (black), it appears that the cashier simply scanned the white one twice, or scanned once and did QTY 2 of that item. I hope I don't have a problem later on, if I need to return one of them.

Any idea how to disable the "power off" button?

I bought a mx2750 and returned it. The cord will expose you to lead. There was a sticker attached to mine with the warning.
