they say they didn't have stock for all the orders. they can't do an immediate release on the funds on my credit card aswell, so i have to wait 3-5 days for the money to be released, so i guess i'm gonna have to find a monitor at a local store

Hey guys,

Sorry if this a stupid question but are these good for just browsing and surfing the internet? I am not a gamer (no time).

I ccurrently have a 3 yr old 19" Samsung syncmaster 955df. Mainly I want sharp clear text so I can read the forums.

Is this one gonna do it?

Hey guys, I don't know if anyone was still thinking about preordering this monitor, but if you are you should take a look at this page. Credit goes to Jenova314 from this thread for finding it. I purchased one of these monitors, and you can bet I will be testing it before I give it to my dad for christmas. Seems like either Walmart or Balance was being pretty damn shady with their laptops and I wouldn't have bought in the 1st place if I had known about these issues.

I have a 17" dell ultra sharp - 600:1 contrast ratio and it's great. My friend has a Viewsonic 17" 450:1 contrast ratio... his looks damn good (except for the jaggedness on the icons in teh system tray), but I prefer my Dell ;-)

As long as you're above 450:1 contrast I think all u really should look for is 16ms response. Real world tests have repeatedly shown that a 450:1 LCD outperforms contrast of 1000:1 plasma tvs. (that's a subjective analysis though; you should really go and look at the LCD's for urself).
