Here is one good deal:

$72.24 for 2x4GB G. Skill DDR3-1333
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231424

Edit: You can only use the code once per account. So use it wisely!

Someone on FW called customer service: the promo is no longer in effect as the funds have been depleted, although it is apparently working again now

Mushkin Silverline DDR3-1333 1.5v 4GB (2x2GB)

EDIT: DOH it is a single 4GB module!

It will be today's Shell Shocker mid-day (12/29, 10A-1P PST) for $40 shipped. Except for one 2-egg review (one module died) and one comic 1-egg review (guy disassembled it and broke it, now wants warranty) these things get all 5-egg reviews.

Here's the 1-egg review for comic relief.
Garbage!

Pros: Looks nifty

Cons: sub-standard construction, do not even attempt to remove heat spreaders, memory chips come off freely during and after removal of heat spreader! May work good, for everybody else who has not removed the "pretty but highly inefficient" heat-sink to upgrade to a adequate cooling aperture "ultra heat-pipe cooling system"

Other Thoughts: I highly doubt Newegg will cover it, Manufacturer has not responded yet, =/.

-----------------------

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

We apologize. However, removing the heatsinks on any Mushkin product will void your warranty and may damage the module due to the nature of the thermal adhesive used in assembly.

Thank you for choosing Mushkin Enhanced!

Anyone know if this is stackable with promotional discount codes? Such as the 6gb g.skill set that was $65 after coupon?

I tried this code with a $10 off on some Corsair modules with ugly heatsinks and it would not stack.

Oh how I want to get 2 sticks of it, even though I don't need them.

hi, best deal i found and ordered, even though i don't have the mb for it yet.

Patriot G series ‘Sector 5’ Edition 8GB (2 x 4GB) SDRAM DDR3 1600
newegg item number N82E16820220484

marked down 130 -> 110 -16.50 (promo code) = 93.50 - 45 MIR = 48.50, that's incredible for 8GB of fast ddr3. they also throw in a bonus 4gb flash drive.

first post after being a long time user, just had to share this hot deal.

That's HOT! Also works on N82E16820220435 which is a crappy 2x2GB kit, ends up being under $30 after rebate/coupon and with free 4GB USB stick. I say "crappy" because it is 1333 CAS9 1.65v.

Any thoughts from people who've done this recently on whether there are serious drawbacks to adding two more sticks to a system (making it 4x2GB) versus shelving the existing 2x2GB and buying a 2x4GB kit?

I've had two previous motherboards (including my Asus P5E) not run with all the ram slots filled, which led to money down the drain (and many hours wasted) the last time I tried to go 4x2GB. Now I'm thinking about doing it on my p55 motherboard, but I wanted to hear if anyone has had problems on that chipset. I also wanted to warn others that adding sticks to an existing system is not always as simple as it seems.

Now I know these are spec'd to reach 1600MHz at 1.65 volts but I figured they would at least default to 1333Mhz as most others would that were not rated a true 1600MHz at 1.5v.

But these apparently on default are dropped to to an even lower 1066MHz (PC3- 8500). So does that mean it won't run at 1333 MHz at 1.5 v like most other 1.65v 1600MHz DIMMS?
I read the Patriot response below for the reasoning but doesn't it mean its older type DDR3 if they have to default it to PC3-8500?

Newegg review:

Pros: Its a DDR3.

Cons: Although it is rated at DDR3 1600. Its default SPD is at 1066. I think this is not a true DDR3 1600 memory. The other DDR3 1600 memory I have at least comes up up at 1333 Mhz by default.

Other Thoughts: Being longtime Patriot memory user, I was expecting a little bit better quality.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Please be aware that our Sector 5 Series are designed to work on Intel P55 chipsets. We programmed the memory to boot at DDR3-1066 because early locked revisions of Socket 1156 CPU's only supported a boot at 1066. If you need assistance with setup timings, please contact support@patriotmem.com.

Patriot Support

ive done 4x1gb a few times, read up onthe board I guess and see if its an issue.

Well, apparently for p55 boards, running at 1600 (an option for i7 chips) is not available when all slots are filled:

From the Asus p55 manual: "Due to Intel spec definition, X.M.P. DIMMs and DDR3-1600 are supported for one DIMM per channel only."

Just hit this deal but the rebate form won't open. Anyone else?

(Oh, and thanks for posting and welcome to AT).

Yes, I read this as well. It should run fine once setup? Since you brought this up I decided to stick with my original order. Saving a few bucks is not worth the possible headaches. BTW, Thanks for reminding/bringing this up.
