DEAD: $100 Credit on Statement for Opening Charles Schwab CC

Link

It seems Charles Schwab is finally catching on though. Anyone who has applied for the card in the past 180 days is not eligible (whether or not they actually enforce this is up in the air though).

Details about the card (from the website):

? No annual fee?some credit cards have one.
? A WorldPoints® program that's free?some cards charge you.
? 1 point for every net retail dollar spent?some cards give you 1 point for certain purchases.
? No blackout dates?some cards' travel rewards programs have them.
? Access to your brokerage and credit card accounts with a single login.
? A low promotional Annual Percentage Rate (APR) that lasts 12 billing cycles, with a low non-promotional APR thereafter?some cards have a low promotional rate, but then you pay a high non-promotional APR.

damn, i want in but i got their card for the $100 GC last time...is it true that opening too many CC accounts will lower my credit score? mine is at 789 last time i check.

I'm guessings it's because I just got the $25 from buy.com :
Your business is appreciated and careful consideration is being given to your request, but an instant decision cannot be provided at this time.

All credit card applications receive a written response within the next 30 days.

Call 1-800-932-2775 and choose #4 for Application Status. Not many people get instant approval, but it ends up going through eventually.

? Price Protection program from Visa®: If you find an item advertised at a price lower than what you paid within 60 days of the purchase, Visa will give you a refund of up to $500 per item. (Now you can shop without worrying about future sale prices.)

? Extended Warranty Protection from Visa: This coverage doubles your original warranty's free repair period (up to one year) when you use your card to purchase your toaster, golf clubs or whatever.

They don't enforce it, in my experience. Got 4 GC's and the iPod shuffle last year, and all the promos had that disclaimer.

Also for those wondering, even if you don't get instant approval the card will most likely show up within 7-10 days unless you have sucky credit.

Thanks, OP. In for another Charles Schwab visa.

Do you have to spend $25 before they'll give you the statement credit like last time? (I guess they want you to spend at least $125 on the card before you cancel instead of just $25 when they gave the $100 visa gift card).

Your doing FINE with 789. That is a VERY respectable score.

This is hot IMO, and I would be all over it if I didn't already get the free shuffle last time 😀

How long does it take for the $100 gift to come? Also, where can I check my credit score for free? Any reliable & trustworthy websites out there?

Thanks!

No, any purchase counts now. My GC's all came within a month after first purchase.

The last time I applied, I got the $100 GC AND the $100 statement credit with first purchase (no minimum).

I got everything in 4 weeks.

===================

Just to clarify, the last time only offered the promotion for either the GC or the statement credit, but somehow they gave me both. Some of you may have the same luck.

Which did you originally apply for the GC or Statement?

I initially applied for the statment credit, but was told that the offer was no longer valid, but they would substitute an equal amount in gift card. After my first purchase, however, a statement credit magically showed up. And a few weeks after that, a gift card magically showed up too.

Does anybody know if the following (posted by Ridefree) applies to this card?

? Price Protection program from Visa®: If you find an item advertised at a price lower than what you paid within 60 days of the purchase, Visa will give you a refund of up to $500 per item. (Now you can shop without worrying about future sale prices.)

To qualify for this offer, you must apply for the Charles Schwab Bank Visa credit card, and your new account must be used to make any purchase or cash advance transaction (including balance transfers, which may include a transaction fee) that posts within 45 days of the account opening date. After qualifying, a $100 promotional credit will appear on your Schwab Bank credit card statement in 8?12 weeks.
