Input your model # and serial #. My CC1H I just received has a 5 year warranty. OEM from Dell from this deal thread.
Edit: From what I understand, the new 3 year warranty for OEM drives are for drives MADE after 1/1/2009, not SOLD after.
My warranty end date being 12/29/2013 means it was made in Dec of 2008 which means it still falls under the 5 year warranty.
I think...
Nope, that's the link I checked with. My warranty ends 1-29-2012, which I assume then means it was built in January
What is your date code on the drive?
Mine is 09315 which according to the Data Code below means it was manufactured in fiscal year 2008/2009 on the fifth day of the 31st week. That's (30 weeks x 7) +5 days, or the 215th day after Jun 30th 2008. That would be Jan 31st 2009 by my calculations, which is close enough to the 1-29-09 date they give with the three year warranty. My drive appears to be built this year so I am SOL on a 5 year warranty.
I found the below examples on how to check the date code on Seagate.
Examples:
0051 means manufactured on the 1st day of the 5th week of the fiscal year 1999-2000
05131 means manufactured on the 1st day of the 13th week of the fiscal year 2004-05 (on the 25th of September 2004)
