With the upcoming "twist", (could only be a half "twist" - only ging to try and twist enough to get the job done) this challenge is still up for grabs!

7ish, hours till we try and raise the dead!

I think you are all playing with me... "Crashtech" is listed twice for Sidock on Free-Dc. So I am double checking all the stats. May not post 1st half stats until tomorrow as I am cooking and the wife is hungry and if I take much longer I will be in big trouble.

Plus, my twist needs some major work to help level the playing field, but here it goes for now. Note read Rule #2!

Goal 1 of DC challenge. Generally reward more output that each player achieves. It is all for the science!

Rule 1. 1st Half points are based upon a maximum of 100 points. Highest = 100. Next = 90, and is the player with the next highest percentage of total points.

Rule 2. In this challenge, penalize a player if their output drops over the time of the race. So in this case, you lose your 1st half of the race points if your 2nd half output is less than the 1st. (Though you don't lose any points earned by recruiting a new player. One new player recruited = 20 points).

Rule 3. Your second half points out of 100 equals your percentage increase over your 1st half points. (Big problem here is that not everyone started at the same time for multiple reasons, but the challenge organizer is one of the largest problems :) For future challenges there needs to be some factor for those that start late.

Rule 4. (This is not used in this challenge, but to help achieve Goal 1) There probably should be some minor incentive to make sure output does not drop over each stage and some way to balance out those that start late?

I have been thinking of a few Rules after the start of a race to keep a challenge interesting and maybe the later rules can change based upon some random factor, but none of that made it into this challenge.

1st Half Results, but I will check again tomorrow. For some reason "crashtech" is showing up on the team Free-DC list for Si-Dock twice? This rocket surgery is hard.

I don't see that anyone has recruited "new" players, so no "bonus" points.

Note Rule #2 from last post. That is the simple twist for this round, so crank up some more CPU!

Howdy everyone! I will pull stats here at 6.15 PST time and again at 7:00 p.m. PST to compare.

Final stats will be pulled at the true challenge final at Midnight of the Living Dead, Whiskey Time Zone. (3:00 a.m. my time ((PST)) - Why did I do this?. Wif says if I wake her up.....I'm.... So I'll start out sleeping in a spare bedroom. By the way, this is the last time I pick an idiotic to my location time zone for a challenge. Even if it is a special occasion! Well actually two occasions, my first DC challenge orchestration attempt and challenge experiment, and paralleling (notice DC reference?) it with one of my favorite holidays!

I need to go set up the scary atmosphere for the local T&T ers outside the home here and I'll be back.

Not too late to add more CPU or recruit someone for more Challenge points. Don't be the one that is ZERO'ed from the 1st half challenge because they can't back up their number!

It's all for science, but I know that you know that it is NOT all "the challenge where everything's made up and the points don't matter." Your ego's need to be in the top half of the FHCHChallenge. If not you will be in the BOTTOM half :)

Updates soon and after Whiskey, and likely double checked tomorrow morning at a decent hour my time. I am bound to flub something up at 3:00 a.m....

I pull stats again soon.

Things that have not been planned for so far. Players (like Skills..) that had no points in the 1st half....

Will Stefan have a bunkered Boinc-er at the end?

More tomorrow local time... I may need some help on how to award final points. Those that had points at the very beginning should be accounted for or at least not hindered?

Pulling final challenge points now! Amazing how you don't sleep well knowing that you have to get up at the Whiskey Witching Hour!

There will be a delay in final FHCHC reporting as it will have to wait until a decent hour after some further rest! Also a post-op on lessons learned and things to improve should proved interesting.

It is quiet around my place at 3 a.m.. Only Loki, our Halloween themed family member (picture in prior post) came to check up on what I was goofing around doing. The dog could not be bothered.

Well I had a few minutes to spit out the following, but no time to error check. There are several issues with the scoring system as there was no guidance about tie-breakers, or late entrants (so I made one up based on Total Work for challenge). More thoughts and a recap soon. These stats are from the 2nd beginning starting time that was the first publicly announced time... Fiasco described this effort well!

More soon and I would like to discuss ideas around how to change (twist) up a challenge that would seem fun and fair if announced previous to the start of a race. The twists could be randomly chosen at each stage. What would other good twists be? Not that this race should be an example. :)

Congrats to all the participants for participating. In the end that is all that matters.

Link to trophy! (Hope this is allowed)

It not being sorted by final position/total challenge points took me far longer to realize than I care to admit :p "Man, I gained a bunch of points in the second round how did I end up third". That is on me, though. Thanks for the stats @cellarnoise

Stats now sorted by Fiasco Final Position. Still not error checked, but it has been a long day! I don't normally wake up at 3 a.m. local time and do puter stuff as was confirmed when I only did a pdf of the final stats and not a copy and paste into OpenOffice, which I am still learning as I am too cheap to go with the industry standard that I know better...

And I am still too tired for further chatter about ideas for "twists". This Fiasco has proven to myself that I am too old to think I can just wake up at odd hours, goof around with stuff, and try and get back to sleep and function even halfway the next day :)
