DDRAM.... Worth it for a "normal" user?

My brother's considering DDRAM. He doesn't OC, and doesn't overly stress the computer; just uses it for a few games and other ordinary tasks. Will DDRAM be worth the cost?

As of right now, the price difference isn't all that much... But if he just mainly plays games then I would say no, if he does more Windows apps, then i would lean toward yes

well, depends... i mean, i am not telling you to go and get 1 GB of DDR SDRAM, but 128 MB of it is fine considering that it is not that expensive. but for the average user who only surfs the net... naww. that's right, the average user does not play games on the pc.

for those who do, DDR would be good, depending on the game. some games just require A WHOLE LOT OF RAM.

DDR will help with my video work, which is just amateurish...

For the more demanding Windows, like 2K or ME then more ram and speedy ram like DDR Ram is good! That will increase stability and increase game play, meaning the game runs more smoothly.

SKY.

I always go bang for the buck.

Will a DDR system with 128megs ram and a 1Ghz Athlon be better than a 1Ghz 384Meg SDRAM system? Not to me. I'd rather have the 384. I'd gamble both systems would cost about the same, given the higher cost Mobo and memory.

Plus... You would be dealing with "new generation" AMD platforms... We can all testify to what we went through until the mobo's got stable.. *nods*

Get a proven A7V and 256 megs of CL2 SD with a 1Ghz TBird and you'll be Smokin'... for a long time to come.

I'll bet my 1Gig box will last me as long as my 300a@450 (bout 2 years)
