DDR3 for a system memory of 512MB at least will be too expensive for consumers.
AMD, Intel, ATI and nvidia are making more money from lower end products like celeron, FX5200 and etc than high end products like 6800GT P4 EE A64 FX.
They will have to find a way to lower the price of DDR3 before it can be sold to the mainstream market that buys cheap computers.
