Any clue when DDR3 prices might go back down? Seems $60 for 2x4G PC1600 is about the best you can find now. Building a new computer and would like to put 8gig in it, but I may just take 4gig from another machine that has 8gig and wait for prices to drop.

Newegg has a shell shocker deal right now, 8GB DDR3 2400 for 72.99 shipped.

Just noticed it runs at 1.65V

Yeah that is my point you have to really look to find something even close to $60. I can remember when it was half that.

Any excess RAM production will go towards DDR4 so its unlikely will see Win8 launch prices for DDR3 ever again.

Maybe Black Friday deals. That's when I got my 8GB 1866 CAS9 sticks for $54.00 each.

They won't be going back down. Get it now or get it at a higher price in the future.

Doubt they will ever go as low as before the Elpida bankruptcy. They were really pushing the prices lower in a last ditch to get their sales back up and clear their inventory backlog. With one less competitor, I don't think that any of the other players feel a competitive advantage to push prices lower.
