DDR3 on DDR2 iMac

I was thinking if I put
DDR3 Ram PC3 10600 into an older iMac 7.1 with DDR2, will it recognise the RAM and will it work? Otherwords if DDR3 is backward compatible with DDR2 iMacs? Thank you for the answer.

DDR3 cannot fit into the DD2 slots.
