So I bought a new motherboard (790i Ultra SLI) which is compatible with DDR3 RAM. I also bought a video card (9500 GT) which uses 1 GB DDR2 RAM. Is this a compatibility problem? I am a n00b so I appreciate your patience. Thanks.

Dang how did anandtech know what i look like? the avatar resemblance is uncanny!

Follow up question: Is it technically possible to install an ATX motherboard in a Micro ATX case?

There is no compatibility problem; your system memory type (DDR2, DDR3 etc,)doesn't have any bearing on the memory installed in a graphics card. As long as the graphics card is the right type (PCIe - which I am sure it is) then you are fine.

FYI - The 9500GT is a low-end graphics solution, so I hope you got a good deal (<$50) and don't have the intentions of playing newer games at high resolutions.

1. No problem, like ExarKun333 said.
2. No, you can't jam an ATX MB in a micro-ATX case. Some ATX cases barely hold a standard ATX MB.

It does work the other way though; you can usually fit a smaller motherboard in a larger case and it generally has the mounting screws to do it. The only non-ATX board I have used was in a shuttle SFF case, but it was more or less proprietary.
