DDR2 Ram 800 work in 533 Slot?

I was looking over newegg and I saw memory 800 is the same as 533, pricewise.

My motherboard is a intel D925XECV2

I wanted to know if I could buy the ddr2 800 and put it in my motherboard and still work, just at the reduced rate of 533. Currently it says it accepts 533 and 400 ram.

The reason? If I upgrade to a new mother board in the future, Ill be able to use this faster memory and since they are the same price, im not losing anything.

So what do you say guys, would it work?

Yeah, thats what I was thinking.

and a DDR2 800 with 5-5-5-12 would still be worse than a DDR2 533 3-3-3-10 timing cause its gonna operate at 533 anyway, right?

Does the timing affect performance much anyway?

Can anyone confirm this before I purchase?

Timings won't have a drastic effect on real-world performance. If you get a stick of DDR2-800, odds are it'll do a slower speed with tighter timings.
