DDR2 Question

I just put together a new computer. I bought an athlon64x2 4600, asus m2n-e and 2 gigs of ddr2 667mhz. Im not nor do i have the intention to overclock yet. I know ddr2 800 is faster but what im wondering is if i should have bought the 800 instead of the 667. Am i losing performance by using 667 instead of 800? I always thought that ddr2 800 was only if you planned on over clocking. Also would it be worth it to upgrade to 800 or just a waste of money.

ugh, I have similar parts, that motherboard is a pos, read the sticky in motherboards. I've seen a lot of people using DDR667 lately, I used PC6400 memory though, curius to know the answer though. Overclocking with this board has been a joke for others and myself.

interesting read down below although im still kinda lost....actually i have no plans to overclock so the board has been great for me. i havent had a problem with it at all

If you don't overclock with the board, it is fine. I've kept it at stock speeds for a while and it's been fine, but asus advertised it as an overclocking board.

yeah i have heard of a lot of problems with it and one day i do plan to overclock it a bit but as of right now im pretty satisfied with the performance of it. From what im gathering ddr2 800 would just give me more memory bandwidth and not really help performance that much. I hate buying something only to find out im not using it to its full potential

I think timings are more important than memory bandwidth with games anyway. I don't ever know if you play games with this machine though.
