DDR2 Memory pairing

I keep reading about pairing DDR2 memory for the "dual channel" effect. Does that mean if I have 4 512MB sticks it does not utilize the "dual channel" and I should get 2 1gig sticks? I R n00b.

yes but i think he is asking will it be faster if i have 4 instead of 2 the answer is no.
Yeah, it won't be faster but what I got out of his post was he wanted a simple yes/no as to whether dual channel works with 4 sticks of memory.

TimJ assumed correctly. I was asking if Dual channel only worked if it were exactly 2 sticks of identical size RAM.
