Never before have I been bitten so bad by a processor choice. I went for the opteron 180 only to find out now that it is obsolete. It is supposed to be a server chip... Any how, my memory went bad in my computer so I returned it for warranty repair only to find out that they don't stock my ram any more (and new egg is all out as well).
They are offering me some cheapy samsung ram with a higher latency. I don't think this is a very good deal.
Will DDR2 ram work in my DDR slots? I know that I wont get the benefits.
Here is my current system:
AMD Opteron 180 (2.4 GHz) Dual Core
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe nVidia nForce4 SLI X16
Corsair XMS PC-3200 2 GB DDR SDRAM TwinX Pack 2-3-3-6
What are my options? If ddr2 will work which one is comparable to what I had before?
